Who is up for giving me a hair overhaul?

after being ill for quite some time I have neglected my appearance. I feel frumpy and now really want to do something about it.

I have been told on here that the best place to start is with my hair but I have no idea what to do with it. Do I just have a trim or get it all chopped off? Or how about a completely new colour?

I have put some pics on my profile so you can see just how bad it is!!

Need lots of ideas because I planning on being gorgeous again by the summer! :)

I really like your hair! But a good cut and colour can do wonders to make you feel better. I'm sorry but I don't have any suggestions - grab some magazines, see which hair styles and colours appeal to you and then get a recommendation for a good stylist and see what they recommend too...
post some after pics for us!

What about getting a fringe put in, see what your hairdresser suggests. Personally I think you'd really suit one, but it makes a big change without having to do anything too drastic. Your colour is lovely btw.

I often thing about a fringe but Im scared I'd really regret it. I've always had my hair long but sometimes long to have it all cut off.

I was just thinking a fringe would work too Honeydragon. Taking just an inch or so off the length at the side and a longish fringe, sitting just below your brows.

headfairy · 18/03/2011 15:03

Nooo, I think a fringe would look lovely. From the photos your hair colour looks lovely. I would love to be dark haired

Honeydragon · 18/03/2011 15:12

I used to be scared of fringes too, I was glad I went for it in the end as it took years of me Smile

Flakes · 18/03/2011 15:46

Agree with fringe. I just had one cut for the 1st time since I was a teenager (now 40) and my mum didn't know me- in a good way! Back is now in graduated bob and am really pleased with it. Feels more 'styled' iykwim. Go for it. We can't all be wrongGrin

MadMommaMemoo · 18/03/2011 17:38

OMG a fringe! I might just go for it,

do it do it do it

You can always have a slightly longer fringe Claudia Winkleman stylee, and then if you hate it, it won't be long before you can pin it out of the way.

MadMommaMemoo · 18/03/2011 21:26

Do you think it would work with my hair though because it's quite wavy

Been thinking about it and I'm going to do it!

yeah, I don't think you could go for a super straight bob type thing but perhaps you could try something a bit less structured that way if you don't like the fringe idea you can sweep it to one side more...

Honeydragon · 18/03/2011 21:43

Yaaaaaay! you must show pictures after Grin

yomellamoHelly · 18/03/2011 21:49

Was thinking fringe too. Otherwise would just get split ends sorted, long layers and maybe a conditioning treatment (or Moroccan oil).

MadMommaMemoo · 19/03/2011 00:13

I will definitely do before and after pics! Have just told dh he is treating me to an afternoon at the hairdressers ;) he owes me!

Yes yes! A fringe! headfairy's link is lovely, I also like the bob length in that pic.

You could move your parting a bit more to the side and sweep your fringe across. I have wavy hair and a 'straight down' fringe didn't sit very well. A good hairdresser will be able to tell you whether yours would work.

Pictures after please!
