Wrinkle fillers/plumpers?

TracyK · 18/03/2011 13:21

I have a couple of deep 'cracks' (for want of a better description) in between my eyebrows. I wouldn't say they were wrinkles really. They stay there even when not frowning.

My friend has quite noticeable lip lines from when she was a smoker.

So we are both looking for the best cream for disguising/plumping/maybe helping long term these lines.

Any suggestions??

Try a mattifying primer like Bareminerals "Prime Time". They can have a moderate pollyfillering effect.

Other than that, Botox and Fillers for longer term, more invasive treatment.

No cream will plump it in a swelling type way, but the matte primer type ones can act well as a pollyfilla.

Body shop does quite a cheap one - about £11 so you can see whether it will work for you.

just bought vichy thing for lines; small tube £25, for contours apparently. Done wonders for under lips.

I went for a consult for botox on Monday - but swayed away from it - she said she'd inject either side of the wrinkles to 'stretch' them apart - don't know that I'd like that look. Thought she'd say she'd fill them with fillers to 'push' then up from underneath.

There was an article on new products for 'veiling' the wrinkles - I think Clarins, Soap & Glory and someone else had something on the go. Am going to have to dig in the bin and get the mag out and re-read.

How do you mean 'under lips' Grumpy?

Yeah- that worried me too!

TattyDevine · 18/03/2011 14:44

I would imagine all she really meant was the she would weaken the muscles that are pushing them together...thus "stretching" them apart - i.e not pushing them together anymore!

Its the only method I know of.

There would be little point plumping them with fillers if they are still being pushed together by these two muscles constantly - they would break the filler down very quickly.

Dont have botox if you dont want it but if you are willing but just nervous, get her to clarify what she meant.

I have had botox for between my brows and its bloody marvellous. Nothing is stretched...just relaxed. Not immobilised either, just not as easy to do it so you dont.

I'm sorry to say that no cream will fix this problem. Save your money and put it towards the aesthetic solution as it will work. The most important cream you should use is sunscreen and tretinoin which works at a cellular level. I

I've just had botox in three areas of my face including frownlines with no problems apart from a slight headache and some soreness. I'd definitely recommend it although you may need some filler as well. The nurse also recommended a new product called Radiesse which may be worth a google. I'm saving up!

MaeMobley · 18/03/2011 16:52

I am about to try Soap & Glory Wonderfill as recommended in Stylist.

TattyDevine · 18/03/2011 17:37

Let us know Mae how it goes wont you - give us a review!

I have Botox three times a year and have done since I was 40 - I'm now 44. It's quite honestly the best S&B money I've ever spent. I used to have deep scowl lines above the bridge of my nose and horrible tramlines going from side to side accross my brown. I don't have any of that now but my face is still mobile and expressive.

I've just started having Restylane (a filler) too - in the white line that runs above the pink of my top lip and in the lines that run from the side of your nostrils down to the corners of the mouth. It's very, very subtle and I'm delighted.

Botox is £275 x 3 per annum and the filler was £350.

It's expensive but it works so it's a priority for me so I make economies elsewhere. I do not know of any cream that will produce real results on deep wrinkles and those "cat's bum" lines around the mouth, I'm afraid.

TracyK · 18/03/2011 18:52

Ah yes Mae - I just dug out my Stylist and Soap & Glory Wonderfill was one of the products mentioned. Gets mixed reviews on boots.com. The other 2 products were Kiehls strength deep wrinkle filler and Clarins Instant smooth line correcting concentrate.

I'll have a wee dab of Kiehls stuff next time I'm in Space NK - as I also want to try the By Terry mascara.

I was just a bit dubious about needing the botox rather than fillers as it doesn't seem to be 'frown lines'. I'm not aware that I frown a lot (if at all) - so that the lines aren't 'activated' iykwim. More like the loss of collagen has resulted in thinner skin and it's left some 'cracks' again iykwim?? Thats why I thought I'd need fillers.

I'm just looking for a temp solution (ie camoflaging rather than repairing) on a daily basis to disguise these lines for a year or so - till they get so bad I really want botox or the like.

I don't mind the cost - I've spend the same (and more) over the years on 'miracle' products!!

TattyDevine, I will review!!

dontrunwithscissors · 19/03/2011 20:20

I jusr bought the Soap and Glory one. I just have very fine lines on my forehead. It made a very slight difference to them - really not worth it and the jar will probably hang around the dressing table until I eventually chuck it out.

willybreeder · 19/03/2011 23:54

I've got that deep line between my brows and 3 years ago I had Botox - good results. Been waiting to get it done again (results lasted nearly a year) and now wondering if I should get a filler instead so I'm interested to hear your views on the muscles working against the filler and perhaps breaking it down, mmmm, will ask the nurse and report back.

cabbageroses · 20/03/2011 09:09

I have recently had a tiny bit of Restylane on my cheeks- had a horizontal line under each eye half way down the cheek- it has really helped. £650 quite a bit , but went to someone really good.
