Are pashminas naff for dress-covering?

Yes, for a wedding

I've got a couple so it'd be useful to use one of them, but are they naff now?

If so, what are the alternatives?

I go to cocktail parties and formal dinners a lot and at least in my peer group pashmina = airline blanket.

Personally, I'd use a nice bolero made of silk or a silky shawl that is not a pashmina/cashmere shawl. A shrug is a more remote possibility, not too keen on that, and nothing acrylic. A cardi, never. Actually, the most wear I get out of tailored, elegant cropped small jackets with long sleeves that I wear with shift dresses.

So what would you reckon to cover this dress?

I love pashminas. Just so long as it's actual cashmere & silk and not something sold on a street corner.

I don't really like boleros on me, I've got quite narrow shoulders and I always think I look funny in them.

I've got a grey/beige sheer shawl which might work, but not sure it'd help much in keeping me warm!

That is a nice dress, a bolero or jacket would not suit and a cardigan would dress it down too much. I think a pashmina would be fine but as Blackswan says not the type sold on st corners.
