How to Achieve Shiny Nails????Or is that Shiney??

I'm forever seeing glamorous folk on the telly with incredibly shiny painted nails.
How is this done?
Is it the nail varnish alone or are they using a layering approach - one coat of coloured polish then one of clear?
I need to know!
PS my nail varnishes are all No7 and on their own aren't that shiny.

A layer of high gloss top coat. I use a Jessica one called Brilliance.

CDMforever · 14/03/2011 19:18

Oooh, where would I get Jessica products from or do any other companies do "high gloss top coats"??

I don't know about other ones sorry. Maybe OPI do one? Jessica is either in beauty salons or (cheaper) online, lots of online beauty shops sell their products. OPI I know have a concession in London Selfridges as was as available in salons/online.

Have a look at No7 etc see if they have a high gloss top coat. I expect a lot of ranges will do their own version.

add top coat every night whilst Mumsnetting

I wonder if they have these. I've had mine done with this twice now and the finish is shiney and stays that way.

Sorry!! Blooming phone. I do love it...but not that much to rave about it twice Grin

I have had the bio sculp gel nails done - very lovely but always have them done clear (and very shiney too!).
Really want to get a high shine on a deep red/purple colour i'm currently in love with (No7's Temptress)
Thanx all, will look at Seche Vite too.

Seche Vite topcoat is amazing stuff. I can wear any old cheapo nail polish with it and it lasts days. I've also discovered their ridge-filling base coat which gives a lovely smooth look.

I feel a bit QVC with 'lovely smooth look', but you get the jist!
