It is very important to my family we all look fab for a funeral. Very tempted to wear a black veil and wail at the back of church for pure comedy value. But nope i will not attention seek.
Want to just look normal and sophisticated. Has to be high street prices. As much as i would love a pink dior bag.
Any ideas?
Need to order tomorrow.

Me too!! But you did ask for conservative blending inot background!

twinsetandpearls · 23/10/2005 22:15

Lots of black suits and a black jersey dress in the work wear section.

Is Next better than M&S then? Actually some lovely stuff in Per Una or their Limited Collection - but I am eons older than you

I got a lovely swingy black skirt at Zara for a funeral last week (cost about £30 quid) but I would wear it for other occasions too! Also ended up spending FAR too much on a long black overcoat there too (for same occasion) - but again, I will wear it loads.

I really wanted to go the whole hog for this particular funeral but did think, when looking at others there, that it wasn't at all necessary. Folk were wearing all sorts and it didn't make any odds - we were all just very sad! . What I'm saying is - I reckon for funerals you should think more about what sort of person the deceased was and dress accordingly. The funeral I went to last week, I wish I had worn something really loud and flamboyant - it would have been much more appropriate than the black garb I forked out on.

You're right zippy, in this circumsatance conservative and lady like is exactly what she would love, it's my nanna, she would pull your top up and say it was vulgar and want you cleanly pressed.

I have just seen some nice tailored pieces on the M and S website. I think their tailoring is far better than Next.

twinsetandpearls · 23/10/2005 22:31

Very conservative, smart, ladylike and better than Next, from M&S

fairyfly · 23/10/2005 22:37

Thanks Aimsmum >smile emotican thingy<

For the funeral I am going to on Friday I am wearing a big black skirt with a black v-neck jumper.

Skirt from Dorothy Perkins and jumper from somewhere (it was from a clearance shop) and I am wearing chunky jewellery.

I feel like I should be wearing pink though...
