What would you wear with this dress?

I bought this as I'm carrying 'a little' bit of extra weight and I hate my upper arms - so this covers them nicely.

I'm going our for dinner with my DH in a couple of weeks and plan to wear then (we haven't been out in years so want to feel nice!).

Is it ok for that kind of thing?

What tights/shoes would go best with it? I don't love it, but it was a bargain and is the right shape to flatter my figure and hide my hideous arms without drawing more attention.

Monsoon dress

Is it hideous?!

I really don't think you can wear tights with this! You will end up looking frumpy. This dress could be pretty if accessorised properly. I would go bare legs, fake tan and pretty sandals.

leothelioness · 13/03/2011 22:06

I would go with silvery acessories and strappy heels.

LauraMercier · 13/03/2011 22:54

Can't do bare legs, ever. And not sure it's sandal weather yet? Crap, sorry not dismissing suggestions but bare legs are a big no no.

It looks much nice than the pic when it's on but am stumped on legs/feet. Bare look tights??? Or is that totally naff too? Strappy shoes would then be out too.

Stupid fucking odd shaped body! Next option a sodding sack.

what about some killer heel boots ? this will "lift" the dress would also go with silver jewellery as well.

brabbinsandfyffe · 13/03/2011 23:36

love that dress!

MoonGirl1981 · 14/03/2011 05:08

Oooo, I like that.

I'd say black knee high boots. No tights.

cruelladepoppins · 14/03/2011 09:37

Who are all these people who go about with no tights on? Do you not live in the same country as me? It's blimmin' freezing out there!

doggiesayswoof · 14/03/2011 10:50

The dress is nice. I really don't see the problem with wearing opaques with it. I would - it is still March! (Disclaimer: I have varicose veins and live in Scotland so even in summer I keep my opaques on most days Grin)

I would wear with black opaques, black heels and silver jewellery.

notyummy · 14/03/2011 11:18

How about nude fishnets (don't recoil in horror - they are really flattering on and make legs look good) with nude heel to elongate legs? Wearing an 'all black' look of dress, black opaques and black shoes/boots could look a bit funeral and not really 'evening out' - more 'day at the office' IMHO.

LauraMercier · 14/03/2011 20:15

Glad people like it! Been years since I've worn a dress. I love the idea of nude shoes bit not sure I could carry them off. Am 14/16, short arse, 33. Can I do nude shoes?? Will give nude fishnets a go but are just nude tights ok? I have black satin killer heels too but only biker boots....

What about nude tights and black killer heels?

zosias · 14/03/2011 20:24

lovely dress, why don't you wear black leggings and heels. If you pull leggings up away to show off the ankle it makes it a bit more edgy.
