ooh DW eyeliner...is that liquid, pen or pencil?

Gillybobs · 12/03/2011 21:46

I adore the foundation but found the eyeliner rubbish

LittleMissStuffit · 13/03/2011 12:27

Am wearing DW Light in shade 01 today.... forgot how nice this is. Good yellowy hue too!

southeastastra · 13/03/2011 17:50

how do you put yours on? i got a brush do you have to dampen the brush first?

OP posts:
wendihouse22 · 13/03/2011 18:28

Nah... I do fingertips for quickness. Are brushes better? Do you get a different/better coverage?

controlpantsandgladrags · 13/03/2011 19:28

I use the EL foundation brush with mine and get better coverage that way IMO. I'm sure a cheaper brush would work equally as well though.

southeastastra · 13/03/2011 20:38

it's making my face tingle a little :S

love your name controlpants Grin

Oh, mine doesn't tingle.... is that good?

I have purchased the Double Wear Concealer today in 01 Light.

Again, does what it says on the tin and those dark circles are no more!!

Would never have thought myself an Estee Lauder user...always associated in the past with a too much makeup/drag queen look but, excellent quality now am converted!

thornykate · 14/03/2011 16:05

I love the concealer too, lol @ drag queen look...I know what you mean though! Loads of times I have tried changing to a more fashionable brand but always come back to use lauder foundations. Having said that I did treat myself to some of the Dior long lasting foundation while I was in town today.
Not that I am easily influenced by threads on MN Hmm

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 16:08

I use a brush. No need to dampen first, just squeeze some foundation onto the back of your other hand, dip the edge of the brush in and stipple the fondation on.

Rassy · 14/03/2011 17:18

I currently have the normal Double Wear but have been using the Light version for the past couple of days (got a sample of it). Am pretty pleased with it - does anyone plan on using it as their 'summer' foundation? I would use the Laura Mercier one that everyone raves about but I don't live in a city that sells it...Sad

DonaAna · 14/03/2011 17:19

Southeastastra, I'm not sure about what causes the tingle. I've felt it too, and I don't think it is allergy. I'm a huge fan of longwearing transfer-proof makeup, but it can be difficult to wear. The downside is that I can often feel the makeup and it can make my skin tense and also dry it out badly (silicone oil or something???). For the past couple of days I've been experimenting with the unlikely option of using Eucerin urea cream as a makeup primer - and it is working!!! Dramatically reduces the tingling and extreme dryness. Actually my skin is looking so good that I've not needed much liquid foundation any more. I'm still loving the Dior stuff (it has a pump - does DW? - but I need much less now).

Finally, you need a good makeup remover to deal with DW and other long-wearing foundations. Water and normal cleanser is not enough. There are special products (EL's Take it Away???) but I prefer simple baby oil. You could get bad breakouts and pore-blocking product buildup if you don't cleanse thoroughly enough.

CalamityKate · 14/03/2011 17:23

I'm very pale and DW in Shell is the only foundation I've ever found that matches my skin.

I mix it with a little bit of moisturiser for a more "tinted moisturiser" look for daytime.

It's fab.

southeastastra · 15/03/2011 18:30

never heard of Eucerin - what it is?

bought some baby oil just in case i'm not getting it all off, tingling less so today so perhaps it's just skin getting used to it. don't usually wear foundation during the day

GetOrfMoiLand · 15/03/2011 18:33

I think this stuff is vile, it has the texture of PVA glue, and looks mask like. Also highlights all flaws I think. Plus I am very pale and all colours are too dark for me.

DonaAna · 15/03/2011 19:05

Astra, many longwearing foundations feel drying, particularly towards the end of the day. For some reason, DW seems to pull my pores open after some hours - it accentuates them, although I normally don't have visible pores (Diorskin doesn't do this, it's consistency is finer). The true test of a foundation is to check what it looks 10-12 wears after application - too often it's not a pretty sight.

Eucerin here. Looks medicinal and dull but it's amazingly good.

dwl doesn't have a pump btw just noticed your question.

the 'urea' part is off putting Grin

DonaAna · 15/03/2011 19:22

Re: urea, I would never have bought it on my own. Where I live (Scandinavia), Eucerin urea cream is actually sold under a different name - Smoothing Face Cream 5% Karbamid. Karbamid is a euphemism for urea Grin I guess nobody would buy it if it had the word "urea" on the label.
