Clinique City Block

I'm looking for an alternative to MAC's spf 50 primer, which I love, but hate the packaging, not keen on the cost, and feel like my skin could probably do with a break from it every now and again.

Does anyone know if the city block is good as a foundation primer? And how is it for oily skin? The Mac spf 50 primer is great for oily skin, holds my foundation on like glue, where as most things just slide of my face in an oil slick after a couple of hours.

If not the city block for oily skin, are there any alternative high spf primers?

Bumping for you Smile I'm also interested.

I have used it for about 20 years! I don't have oily skin but it is not oily anyway. I use a Clinique moisturiser for dry skin under it, then city block then foundation. Nothing like protecting your face!

it does help your foundation settling into "bare" skin and gives a tiny bit of colour too.

I have used it for a couple of years as a tinted moisturiser, I love it. I really notice my foundation doesn't look as good if I don't use it. A little goes a long way. And a reasonable price for the quality I think, it lasts me a long time.

I hate it! I have never been able to wear it and for it not to slide off my face and on to my top. I must face ruined a few tops before I gave up. My face is a bit oily too.

Mixed reviews then!

Sounds like it's no good for oily skin then? Thanks everyone.

how on earth can a face cream slide off your face on to your top? Are you applying it by the bucket load?Smile

OP I can assure you it not an oily product and the SPF25 stays put better than the SPF 40 as it has a zinc oxide base rather than a chemical sunscreen base.

Gertiegoolash · 10/03/2011 20:04

I use it under my foundation, I've got combination skin and it makes it stay on longer

Isn't it the tinted one cabbageroses? The colour always end on my top in the heat. If ive got the wrong product sorry.

charlottesmum5 · 10/03/2011 22:23

I use the 25 and the 40 (but prefer the 25) and it is almost like a primer for me - makes the foundation sit nicely on top. In the summer I just use the 25 and no foundation. I have combination skin and it certainly doesn't slide off lol.

Celery · 10/03/2011 22:27

Thanks everyone. Maybe I will give the 25 one a go.

I would definately recommend the MAC spf 50 primer, btw, it's excellent for keeping foundation staying put, especially if you have oily skin. But the packaging is rubbish, and sometimes I feel that my skin could do with a change of product, you know?
