bikini waxing

I am thinking of going to get this done, but have had bad results in the past. The one and only time I had my legs and bikini line done (many years ago) I ended up blotchy and with very unattractive ingrowing hair after only a few days.
Any attempts at home waxing have been equally disastrous.

I am hoping that methods and products have improved over the years. Or is it too much to hope that I will be guaranteed a good result?

Other question is - what are the different types/styles? I don't want to end up completely bald Shock

Always hot wax for bikini areas! (Where they pull off the wax as opposed to using a strip to remove it)

I get a Brazilian which is just a small strip at front and nothing underneath.

I would say - always use hot wax and preferably Lycon and a trained and certified technician (Lycon have their own certification system - and the waxers will always display it on their website i think).

They should cleanse and oil the area before and if you have sensitive skin, probably apply aloe vera gel afterwards - v soothing and cooling.

I get a Blush hollywood done every 4 weeks and my lady wot waxes is brill, almost never an ingrower and v little pain at all. Any redness usually goes in a couple of hours.

go to a salon that does a lot of bikin waxes so their staff are expereinced. If you're arounf Manchester I would recommend "The Brazillian Waxing Company" or "Strip" if you're in London.

Does anyone else find it a pain that you have to wait for the growth to be a certain length before you can get it done? As I go swimming weekly I can't exactly have a pant moustache going on waiting for it to get long enough for waxing so end up shaving or epilating so never get to a salon.

Thanks for comments. I'm also concerned about the leaving it to grow beforehand problem as I go swimming quite a lot.
Thanks Diablo, but I'm out in the sticks, not near any cities.
