"Day Spas"

Am I right in thinking that a "Day Spa" is basically a beauty salon?

The use of the word "spa" made me think of wafty robes and relaxation rooms, maybe a sauna or steam room, but apparently not?

this is a "day spa". Definitely more than a beauty salon. Had a lovely day there with my sister. The robes were more snuggly than wafty though.

A proper day spa will usually have wafty robes, relaxation rooms and perhaps a sauna, steam room, pool and jacuzzi.

I love it here

Was given a day spa for my birthday.

At wonderful hotel and included use of all the different spa rooms, jacuzzi, swimming pool, gym, buffet lunch, heat and ice stuff, sauna rooms etc.

You could pay for extra treatments like massages, foot treatments etc.

We spent a couple of hours in the gym. Swam for a bit. Had lunch (yum). Dossed about in big fluffy robes and then did all the sauna/spa stuff in the pm.

Bliss.

I can't stand day spas! (esp The Sanctuary)

Maybe I haven't had a good experience, but I find them overpriced and spend too long talking!

Thank you! You've confirmed what I thought.

Sorry "wafty" was the wrong word for robes. Snuggly is a better word. Or in the case of this spa, non-existent.

It seems Elemis are taking rather a lot of liberties in calling this a day spa. The "sensory lounge" is the waiting room. You don't get changed until you go into the treatment room (and getting changed is counted in the treatment time). No pool, no sauna, no jacuzzi, no changing room, no lunch...back onto the streets of London tahn straight after your treatment. Oh, and you pay £25-30 more per treatment than out-of-London spas. Hmm

All just my opinions/experience, of course. Am sure others find it lovely.

Just wanted to check I hadn't lost my marbles. I am lucky enough to go to (proper) spas relatively often and this one didn't cut the mustard, felt a bit short-changed.
