Laser depilation - yes or no?

I'm considering getting my legs done as a present from DH to myself(!) as I like having smooth legs, but can't be arsed with epilating/waxing etc. etc.

Also, I'm pg with DC2 and know it won't be long before I a) can't see or reach to do my legs and b) won't have the time.

Any experience? Is it worth it? Does it hurt etc??

I have just started a course.
I don't think you can have it done when pregnant.

Aw.....really?! Damn.

No, they won't do it when pregnant and it didn't work for me anyway, although I'm trying to find out why!!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2011 15:44

Ah well.

Thanks for your input!

If it's the same laser as they use for thread vein treatment, yep, you can't have it done during pregnancy. Because of increased skin sensitivity etc.

Fair skin, check.
Dark hair (dyed red) check.

I'll get myself booked in for some sessions post-pg, then!

Cheers.

Always get a test patch done though. If I had had one done I wouldn't have bothered. 12 sessions, pale skin/dark hair and still NOTHING!!!

Effectiveness definitely varies from person to person. I had a course of about 8 treatments on my face and it all grew back, much worse in some places too. I am very pale, facial hair is dark brown, I don't have PCOS but I am a hairy sort.

I ended up having it done again via a Groupon offer. I am not expecting it to have permanent or even long term effects but at the price I got it for it is the most effective and long lasting method I have tried so far so I am just treating it as maintenance rather than a long term solution. That said, if you do come across an offer on Groupon do as much research as you can on the salon offering the treatment - ie. read online reviews etc. as there can be some quite dodgy places on offer on Groupon.

Yes yes yes do it!!!
I had a session recently after someone else told me about it... ONE session only so far and have shaved maybe once since (as opposed to every day before). It's fantastic!!

Just as a side note, there appear to be different kinds of lasers. Or maybe I just respond really well. I have fair skin and light/medium brown hair.
