growing out eyebrows

amiheartless · 03/03/2011 15:13

I've been trying to grow eyebrows back for ages (too much plucking)

there naturally quite sparse(so are lashes)
and trying to grow them back is a nightmare so patchy and I'm doing all the obvious not plucking.

I've even considered shaving the off in the hope they'll come back quicker, but not sure it would actually have desired effect.lol

any tips ???

I'm doing this too! I overplucked for years and like you mine are quite sparse and fair, but 5 weeks on and I am really liking my 'new' eyebrows. They did look (to me, DH didn't notice) bizarre for about a week. I have recently bought a new eyebrow pencil to fill in.

DO NOT SHAVE THEM OFF!!!!!!!!

What colour hair do you have?

bristolcities · 03/03/2011 16:27

Eat lots protean like lean meats and for a cheaper alternative to the 40 quid serums use a bit of vaseline on lashes and brows.

And in the mean time use this its amazing, one of those products i don't know how i loved with out.

This model had hers completely plucked off (I think it was her signature in the 1990s and landed her a lot of contracts). They never grew back, she had to have new ones tattooed in. Don't do it!

Stuffedcat- my hair is dark browm but I have very fair like grey brown eybrows/blonde lashes

I use a blonde eyebrow pencil. brown is too dark

I would carry on, I read somewhere that it can take about 6 months!
I still have a couple of areas where it appears nothing is going to grow but you never know and the pencil I am using is doing a good job of filling in, (I have been putting vaseline on as Bristolcites mentioned too)

amiheartless · 03/03/2011 16:35

I'll tey vaseline, what does it actually do as far as growth is concerned??

bristolcities · 03/03/2011 16:37

It wont speed up growth but thats why you would eat amino acids in the from of lean protein the Vaseline stops the hair breaking as it grows.

Ahh ta

I had grown mine in, it took about a month and I went to a salon to have them "neatened" and she went crazy overplucking them again.

amiheartless · 04/03/2011 08:35

Oh dear Sahminspain bet your were like ARRGGHHH!

I have been growing mine in, I would recommend having them tinted, it makes them look fuller as it tints all the fair little hairs you can't really see. Mine have grown in quite a bit but still have a couple of bald patches that I fill in, am hoping they will grow back there eventually.

Keep at it and don't be tempted to pluck!!

MissRead · 04/03/2011 09:27

bristolcities I've got that Benefit product but can't get on with it - when the girl in the shop tried it on me it looked great but when I do it my eyebrows look very fake and overdone - any tips?

Stuffedcat · 04/03/2011 09:39

I used to use one of those eyebrow kits yonks back in my black/red haired goth days back in the 80'SGrin I think it was a body shop one but it wouldn't look at all natural on me now (blonde pale skin).

i have recently bought a Laura Mercier one in fair blonde and its really good for filling in tiny spaces where the eybrow is still trying to grow I don't pencil all over I just sort of 'add' a hair here and there

wendihouse22 · 04/03/2011 09:47

Tint them. Leave 'em alone. Give it time.

Seriously, you're not really thinking of SAHAVING THEM OFF?!!

MoreSenseThanMoney · 04/03/2011 10:20

Have you tried using castor oil on them? There are loads of reviews on Makeupalley raving about it for its growth-enchancing properties for eyebrows and eyelashes.

I've also got very fair eyebrows and tried castor oil for a couple of weeks a few months ago (applying it with an old mascara wand before bed) and I definitely saw a noticeable difference; you could actually see lots of new hairs emerging after a week or so. I got lazy and stopped doing it but might start again soon. Apparently it also darkens the hair over a longer period (although I'm not sure how!)

minibmw2010 · 04/03/2011 10:53

I use this on mine, I've been using it for the last couple of months and they are definitely becoming thicker and healthier (the ends were very thin). There's one for eyelashes and eyebrows
