School Uniform Jacket that doesnt look like on from the uniform shop?

Please any suggestions really appreciated. I am looking for something reasonably warm not just waterproof but really don?t like the look and feel of the stiff ones they sell in the uniform shop. They are a bit boring too!
My ds has outgrown his winter jacket and as he worn it for two winters there is really not even a point in dry cleaning it as it is knackered! It was really nice and warm fat feather filled jacket and he loved it. It was sort of cross between gap and petit bateau (can?t remember the make possibly from Portugal?).
I am looking for something thinner but still warm and preferable waterproof that would be great for spring and autumn? Any suggestions please?
Oh and it needs to be NAVY!
Thank you

This mint not be quite what you have in mind, but John Lewis do nice coats in their uniform departments which are zip-together fleece inner and waterproof outer. He could wear either or both layers, depending on the weather.
