1950's tight waisted full skirted dresses

I think I am glad she isn't going to be a hippy or a rocker or some Disney ispired nonsense for her teenage years

But is this 'in' atm? if not where am I is she going to buy stuff?

TIA

Yes, it's deffo a current 'youth cult' looking a bit fifties/vintage/retro.

Lots of high street shops do prom style dresses a la Lily Allen, and here's a website with some nice dresses that I saw on Retrotogo yesterday - there's some lovely stuff about!

OMG the prices!!!!

I lived out of charity shops when I 'created' my style

If that's your DD on your profile pics, she'd look fab in a pillowcase dress! Gorgeous!

My friend likes 50s style stuff and always looks great. She buys it all from New Look, Miss Selfridge etc, so you'll find plenty of nice stuff on the high street I'm sure.

Ooh fab! Lots on ebay.

Dare I mention the B word

You could always teach her the art of charity shopping too... if she doesn't think you're hopelessly out of touch anyway :)

Check out this thread from a few weeks ago. Lot's of links on here to check out. Hell Bunny is probably the most affordable and great for teens.

I know womma, I just have been dreading the micro skirt crop top idea

50's although much better is much more expensive

Sewing machine here we come - I know I used to know how to make a full circle skirt Hmm

Well there you go, and with a nice net petticoat underneath, all easy to make, she'll be all Fifties'd up!

KatyMac · 03/03/2011 09:49

Petticoat exists (mine....quite old)

Hmm - I am so much an Asda/Tescos for her clothes the idea of spending more is a bit scary
