Is anyone else a fan of Cos?

I'm almost completely obsessed by them, they are the more expensive sister store of H&M, and don't have many shops in the UK, so I do most of my buying on ebay.

Classic with a twist sort of sums them up, but am I alone in my love for this obscure Swedish clothes shop?

Cos is absolutely brilliant.
Great prices, too.
I have several tops, a dress and some accessories.
I didnt know it was part of H&M - it looks like a collection put together by a few mates who met at art school! I like the way they have loads of different styles but only a couple of each item.

mrsshackleton · 01/03/2011 17:25

I wouldn't call them obscure but then I'm in London, there are lots here.

I like the idea of Cos but in reality never can find anything that speaks to me.

They are, however, the fashionistas' brand of choice

FreeButtonBee · 01/03/2011 17:32

I have recently bought a few things and do like it. I am not convinced by the work wear but that's because I am trying not to buy plain black or grey items at the moment in a bid to make my wardrobe slightly less dull. Got a great scarf though - cream with red and blue spots but it's not in the less bit Cath Kidson, but properly modish and Scandinavian. And it's in lovely soft jersey as well so hangs really well.

migola · 01/03/2011 17:38

ooh there's one just open in brighton - never heard of them before Blush, will go in next time I'm in town

Verso · 01/03/2011 17:40

Only just discovered it recently and love it. Just a pity you can't shop online.

bogle · 01/03/2011 17:41

So nice to find fellow fans, my friends, sisters and mum just don't get it. They'll wander into a store if we're in London, do a 3 minute circuit and nothing will grab them. I just want to scream 'IT'S ALL FAB!!!!!'. But, like I say, I am a bit SAHM obsessed with not looking mumsy.

OP i adore Cos !!!
have 2 lovely jumpers - one is cashmere reduced to £40 in a sale.

Their sales are generally fab but they're not priced too badly full price either.

I have, however, stayed away so far this year as i can't afford it right now and because it is affordable makes it harder not to spend IYSWIM ?!!

I love it too, but it's not for the more booby/hippy among us (i.e. me). Great accessories and shoes too.

Daydreaming · 01/03/2011 21:53

Yes, I really like it too - they have some great designs.

I guess it's the opposite of "mumsy !! Grin

lalalonglegs · 01/03/2011 22:29

Eeek... am sitting here in brilliant Cos zip up top and tailored shorts. Their clothes are fantastic: slightly edgy without being unwearable; really unusual cuts and detailing. Best of all, they come in a really wide range of sizes and they are aimed at women rather than teenagers (in fact, I think people under 30 would look quite odd in Cos because the clothes are quite subtle).

There is a top - a sort of modern take on a fisherman's smock, I'm calling it Grin - that I am currently lusting over. I almost never pay full price for things but, in this case I think I will have to because I can't bear it selling out before the sales.

But should we really be talking about it? I'm kind of upset but relieved at the same time that they don't have an internet shopping facility... Wink

trixymalixy · 01/03/2011 22:34

I have a lovely blouse from there that is my favourite workwear top.

I keep going in hoping to find something equally lovely, without success. Most of it I imagine being worn by painfully thin women with elfin crops who have a penchant for chunky jewellery.

Definitely not for curvy women like me for the most part.

sansucre · 01/03/2011 22:38

I'm obsessed too! I've recently returned to work and the clothing works so well in the environment I'm in. I usually visit once a week as pieces seem to sell out really quickly and I'm fed up of missing stuff.

All the pieces are so easy and fit with the rest of my wardrobe, I can't imagine how I'd get dressed without them. I also love how it disguises my boobs, I have quite large chest on a very very small. Another love is that they have so much navy, I far prefer it too black.

One niggle though, the prices have been hiked up quite a bit in recent months.

sansucre · 01/03/2011 22:42

Oh, I disagree with the comments about it not being for curvy women.. I'm most definitely curvy albeit on a very small frame. A few Christmases ago, I bought the most beautiful strapless cocktail frock, played up my curves beautifully. I saw a woman who was a size 16 trying it on at the same time, she looked amazing.

I guess it's a question of looking at carefully and trying everything on. Not much of it has hanger appeal, and that's a good thing as I'm sure if it did, it would all sell out far far quicker!

KristinaM · 01/03/2011 23:53

I love their clothes but agree that they are not cut for women with boobs

lalalonglegs · 02/03/2011 10:10

I'm a D-cup plus I have quite broad shoulders and I never have a problem finding stuff in Cos (but years of practice has taught me which styles to avoid).

Butterbur · 02/03/2011 10:22

I've just looked at their website, and the clothes are all boring and shapeless. And what's all that knee socks/ankle socks business?

But I like the way the models are posed - nice to see them just standing there so you can actually see the clothes.

bogle · 02/03/2011 11:55

Thats the magic of Cos Butterbur, the clothes look like that on the hangers but really do transform once you wear them. Lalalonglegs got it spot on with slightly edgy. Oh, i do need to visit a store SOON, not one for about 40 miles from where i am though....

OP posts:
womma · 02/03/2011 12:12

...and it's also not compulsory to wear the clothes with pop/ankle socks either!
