I have very oily hair but find most shampoos leave my hair flyaway or coated in residue. At the moment I am using Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner and it is working really well.

Timotei is nice and is only £1 at asda.

CeliaFate · 01/03/2011 19:59

Head and Shoulders Citrus. Lovely!

I have found that the only way to deal with the oily hair issue is to not wash it so often. I have gradually cut down from four washes per week to two per week over a six month period. As for shampoos, I am yet to find a brilliant one but I have been recommended Redken which I am going to try. Since I am shampooing less I can afford a good quality one.

The l'oreal elvive light pink and green one - sorry don't know its name!

DayVLately · 01/03/2011 22:00

Second the elvive light one
Have been using the pantene aqua light as well for the last three months and find that on the second day my hair is still really nice and clean.

UML · 01/03/2011 22:02

Whenever I stray off the shampoo path, I always end up going back to pantene!

lololizzy · 01/03/2011 22:22

Tresemme do a good choice for a variety of types, always impressed by how good it is - ok price too, usually on offer in semi chem.

pollyblue · 02/03/2011 11:43

amiheartless I'm pretty sure that Pantene is tested on animals too.

Lush shampoos are good, they do a shampoo bar for oily hair that i used to use, forget what it's called but it's lilac in colour. Worked really well.

FreeButtonBee · 02/03/2011 12:00

I use Philip Kingsley Flakey Itchy Scalp - mainly because I get 'orrible build up on my scalp which seems to make the grease worse. It seems to keep the oil under control as well. £££ though. I buy the massive litre bottles which last a good 6 months.

Although I find a regular go of highlights helps keep the grease under control.

lololizzy · 02/03/2011 19:51

i thought all Pantenes contained silicone? wouldnt that weigh down oily hair??

twoboots · 02/03/2011 20:23

I'm using Lush I love juicy followed by veganese

DayVLately · 03/03/2011 18:15

The pantene aqua one doesn't contain silicone which is why I have converted

PlentyOfParsnips · 03/03/2011 18:18

ecover washing up liquid.

snail1973 · 03/03/2011 18:41

I second Philip Kingsley for itchy flaky scalp - totally the best shampoo for me. I also buy the massive bottles direct from their website now. Really good

sahminspain · 03/03/2011 19:54

I went to the hairdresser today and she explained that even though my hear is oily it is actually dehydrated, I guess the same way as skin can be. Well, I ended up buying a Redken shampoo in a blue bottle so let´s see how it goes.

peasandlove · 04/03/2011 00:14

I've used that Redken in a blue bottle and it was good, lasted forever too (over 6mths i think).
I struggle with finding a shampoo for oily scalp that doesnt wash out my colour, so if anyone knows one, let me know. Am currently using a Kerestase one that's for oily roots and dry ends, but it's removing my colour too.
