Esteemed Ladies of S&B.....I need your help like I've never needed it before.

My brother is getting married on Easter Weekend. It'll be a relatively small but very classy affair up in the wilds of Scotland.

I need an amazing dress.

My personal style is vintage/retro/wannabe pin-up. I would love a 40's or 50's inspired dress. I don't like the Vivien of Holloway dresses - they're too costumey for me.

I want something with some structure to it to flatter my figure. Must not be strapless. I love lace, sparkles, tulle. Colourwise I look best in strong colours. I don't want anything from Coast/Karen Millen/Monsoon and definitely not Debenhams.

This is pretty close to my dream money-no-object dress.

Also adore this

I am a size 14 and mostly hourglass (with spanx Wink). I have typically Irish colouring - long dark hair, pale skin and grey/blue eyes.

Budget is up to £200.

Anyone up for the challenge?? If you find me the right dress I will track you down and bestow you with gifts Grin.

Oh heavens that is BE-YOW-tiful Grin

QuickLookBusy · 03/03/2011 08:30

You will look gorgeous! Love your colour choice too.

ellangirl · 03/03/2011 08:36

Yesss!! I loved that dress- want it for me! Quite seriously, please let me know how the whole dress making thing from there goes because I would use that site if you say it goes well! Think amethyst will be perfect with your colouring. Yay!

foundwanting · 03/03/2011 09:22

Beautiful dress. Envy

I've also got one wife-less brother to marry off Edgar. Perhaps we could talk them into a civil partnership? Grin

EdgarAleNPie · 03/03/2011 09:28

hmm - civil partnership - even better!

it would be so selfish of him to say no just because he's hetero.

5DollarShake · 03/03/2011 09:38

That dress is beautiful! I have been lurking on this thread and while there have been some great suggestions, your original dresses were far and away the best. This one is just stunning though, and great price.

The amethyst would be beautiful. It seems a fairly warm colour though - would that work?

BunnyLebowski · 03/03/2011 10:07

Grin at Edgar and foundwanting!

Thanks 5DollarShake - I'm pretty sure the amethyst is the right choice - Pastel shades are definitely not my friends!

There is an element of risk involved obviously as I won't get to see it till it's finished but I have faith!

omg - that is so beautiful. Well done for finding it. Am going to persuade my friend that it would make perfect bridesmaids dresses now :)

PorcelinaOfTheVastOceans · 03/03/2011 18:23

i am looking forward to seeing this dress an unreasonable amount Grin

Elemental · 03/03/2011 20:48

Wow, that is stunning! Also looking forward to the pics...

perries · 03/03/2011 21:10

What a great choice of dress and, speaking as a likewise pale/brown hair/blue eyes irish type who is wearing an amethyst blouse today, excellent color choice.

thumbwitch was right on about avoiding orange in any hue.

You will look wonderful in it, no question.

Silver strappy sandals?

ChocChipWine · 03/03/2011 21:51

LOVE it! Jealous! Envy

mippy · 04/03/2011 09:57

That is SO beautiful. It would probably make a gorgeous wedding dress in white.

CaptainNancy · 13/03/2011 23:01

Oh- just getting onto the thread- that dress is gorgeous (and as I was going down the thread that was the one I chose...)

Can't wait to see the pictures!
