I can't afford a Miraclesuit, so can anyone recommend a cheap equivalent?

I've got a Miraclesuit but it's getting ancient. I have a huge wobbly c-section-overhanging belly. The Miraclesuit is the only thing that's ever really contained it to my satisfaction but funds are tight and there's no way I can afford a new one. Are any of the hight street control swimsuits any good?

I just bought a tummy control one from M&S. It's not bad. They go from 25 to 35 quid.

Thanks for that. Is it OK - sturdy, like? Grin

I've heard good things about Penneys (think it's Primark over there?) shape wear.

Are you plus size or slim-but-flawed? (!) (I've got c-sec belly too BTW). If plus sized, Evans do quite sturdy ones. I had one when I was pregnant. I bought it from there because you can't get a big boob swimsuit which is also maternity so I had to go for the big boob element but get one that would fit my bump which meant plus sized! But was amazed at how much "structure" there was to it - nearly up there with my Miraclesuit (which I wear when I'm not pregnant, and is not plus sized, if that makes sense).

So if you are size 14 or over, you could try Evans! But no good if you are skinny but wobbly.

I am plus size and wobbly. Probably 16 on the bottom and 18 on top, but a 16 all over for a swimsuit - with swimsuits I reckon going for as tiny as possible allows for maximum containment and having to lubricate myself to get the thing on is only a minor inconvenience.

I shall investigate Evans :)

Definitely do. We're talking about 20 or 30 quid tops, and seriously heavy duty elastic. Definitely give a Miraclesuit a run for its money, the one I got anyway. I was pregnant at the time so I didn't get one that was too tight, but hell it gave my bump a lovely shape. Then, for some ridiculous and bizarre reason I went swimming about 2 weeks after the birth (I dont think I went in the pool due to blood loss!!!) and I wore it then and remember being so grateful for how it held everything in and up, if that makes sense (and it will if you've had a section!!)

Back in my Miraclesuit now which I love love love. They are not el cheapo though eh.

Doric - there is one black one they do which also "boned" as well as having tummy control. It was the most flattering but I didn't buy because it was hard work getting on and off - not ideal for when I've getting two under 6 changed and myself after a swim....
