Feet after fish treatment

Apologies if this has been covered before, but has anyone had their feet nibbled by fish in a salon and what were the results like. A branch of Appy Feet has opened locally and was thinking of giving it a go.

I gave it ago, would love to go back again, feet were much softer and after the initial plunge it was vey relaxing.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/02/2011 12:28

I'm having one on Wednesday. Will report back!

Rannaldini · 28/02/2011 12:29

feel tempted then i remember they are tiny piranha fish

treatments should not be bondesque

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/02/2011 12:34

I have winter trotters so I need extreme treatment.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2011 12:35

Coincidentally just read this news report on the matter.

geronimoo · 28/02/2011 12:36

I need a farrier, not nibbly fish. Despite lashing of decent cracked-heel cream they are vile in the extreme.

Filofax · 28/02/2011 12:53

Ha ha Ken, my feet are in the same category as yours, look forward to your report.

Many thanks for all replies.

I'm a chiropodist, doublebase gel, apply twice a day but don't rub in. After 3 months see one of us to have the hard skin removed. The vast majority of it won't come back if you keep applying the cream once a day.

I feel sorry for the fish, we have fecal bacteria on our feet (it washes down when we shower or bath). Yuck.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/02/2011 12:57

Fish pedis are a regular deal on Groupon. I've got a voucher for a 1 hour pedi which includes fish, shiatsu and varnish for 67% less than rrp!

Truffkin · 28/02/2011 13:08

I had one a couple of weeks ago after being curious for a while. TBH I didn't rate it for the skin softening / removal element, although it was ok for the novelty factor. I bought an offer through living social so got it cheap. A proper pedi with file (or blade if extreme) is far better IMO.

CeliaFate · 28/02/2011 13:18

Fluffycloudland is that true? Fecal matter on our feet?! EW!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/02/2011 13:30

I got mine as a birthday gift. Will also try the doublebase, thanks for the tip!

Dunoon · 28/02/2011 13:34

Could we not all just get ourselves our own tanks of the fish and dunk feet every so often?

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/02/2011 18:39

Yes it's true. It's why foot ulcers go green, it's a type of bacteria from the gut that lives there normally but causes green pus in open wounds. It's all normal though! No need to get the dettoll out

MooMinCow · 28/02/2011 19:11

I had one on sat. skin did feel soft after and even more so a few days later. they even seemed to have tidied up my cuticles too! I think u would have to maybe have a few if your feet are v dry though

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/03/2011 20:25

Reporting back as promised! It was excellent, my feet are smooth. Would check that the place you go to is clean and that they change the water a few times a day.
