Thread vein removal

Has anyone had any thread veins on their face removed? I've got a couple which have appeared recently and because I'm very pale they're really obvious, would like to hear if anyone has had theirs successfully 'zapped' - was it expensive/painful?

Deaddei · 27/02/2011 17:45

I am having my legs lasered to or row for the first time so will report back.

pollyblue · 27/02/2011 18:06

thanks deaddei, I've just found a clinic in town that offers this, so might give them a ring tomorrow to see what's involved. I'm just worried that it might cost a fortune but still not work! Hope you get on ok Smile

Apparently veinwave is the best treatment nearest to me is Harley Street and I have been thinking about contacting them . Saving up atm.
will try and find link to dr's site

dr newman he was featured on this morning tv apparently. Supposed to have much better results than laser.

I had laser treatment for one on my face. I actually got it on the Nhs, I guess because it was very noticeable. It only took one treatment, vanished completely. Brilliant.

pollyblue · 28/02/2011 10:23

that's encouraging tinierclanger, would be lovely to get such a quick result.

Veinwave looks interesting. I wonder approx. how much it costs? Any idea?

jalopy · 28/02/2011 11:52

ggirl, do you think you'll do it? I would love it done but I'm worried about my nose looking even worse after the treatment.

It's so tempting but I need to hear more success stories.

Filofax · 28/02/2011 12:10

Ive had a couple of treatments on my face; around nose and cheeks. I went to Sk:n clinic which are nationwide and was pleased with results. Cost around £200 and went back (after a pregnancy) for a top up and it was free. Its a really quick treatment and feels like a speck of boiling water on your face. I'd do it again.

Just had first session of leg/bikini lasering.
Not painful at all- feels a little bit tingly.
Apparently I have the perfect skin for it- pale, dark hair.

I had a very large one done on my face which was the end of a thread vein just at my local beauticians, she charged £30 for thread vein removal.

As my was quite large I had to be very careful that I didn't disturb the scab and make a scar.

I am so glad I had it done, should of had it done 5 years ago to be honest ! It just feels like a needle pricking so its really not that bad.

After this pregnancy I am definitely going to get my legs done.

pollyblue · 28/02/2011 13:06

I'm really encouraged by the positive stories - I've just made an appointment for a patch test on Friday, if that's ok will book in for a treatment next week. Thanks all Grin

There are 2 different kinds of treatment; laser treatment (less painful and more expensive) and a needle based treatment (essentially like electrolysis). I had the latter done last year on thread veins around my nose, cheeks and chin (I never knew I had them on my cheeks and chin until I looked into the magnifying mirror at the clinic).

It hurt more than I expected - not as bad as going to the dentist, but still not a comfortable experience - and the scabs looked horrible for about 7-10 days afterwards. However, I'm so glad I had it done. My skin looks so clear now and I'll definitely keep on top of it in the future. Best of luck with it!

jalopy · 28/02/2011 15:51

Formerdiva, was the method you underwent 'veinwave'?

I thought it only left redness for a couple of days not scabs.
