No way. I used to use Estee Lauder serum and moisturiser (pre-dc when I could afford it!). I swore by it. Now I use No 7 Protect and Perfect serum and moisturiser. It is half the price and just as good.

Sorry to sound like a broken record but my dermatologist says no.

However, I do think my skin was better (prior to dermatologist intervention) when I could afford more expensive moisturisers (like Guerlain Midnight Secret and Kiehl's) rather than No 7.

I did once buy a pot of La Prairie. 'Twas amazing...

I do like No 7 though. I can still feel it on my face in the morning.

Dermatologist said to use Oilatum and a sunscreen.

I hated La Prairie and ended up using it on my belly as a very expensive strech mark preventer!

I now use Youth Code - fab!

I love Yonka Fruitellia. I make a 50 squid bottle last 4 months. I also rate doublebase.

AKMD · 26/02/2011 21:39

No. Best one I've found is the £2 My Skin one from Tesco's.

Depends what you mean by better but IMO - definitely NO. More expensive ones might be more pleasant to use but really boils down to personal preferance. I just use the cheap stuff, my fave is Weleda skin food. I do use a tinted moisturiser on top which includes sunscreen.

AKMD can I ask your age range ? I have often been tempted to buy this to control shine, but as it is aimed at younger skin I didn't bother but would if I knew it was ok on someone the wrong side of around 30.

I think it does make a difference, I was using cheaper stuff but used some boots points to buy clarins oil for night time and got a freebie of serum and face cream for day time.

THe most important thing is to use a daytime moisturiser with SPF

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 27/02/2011 08:45

I love my Ren night cream and am currently using up a very large bottle of Kiehls that I'm not sure I really like. Previously tended to use Clarins. Did also try an Aveno? 24 hour? moisturizer sample which seemed good and much cheaper.

So, I've never gone really cheap through fear really.

Need to buy a new day time SPF moisturizer so whether cheap or more expensive would be interested to know what you'd go for?
