Want to reduce chemicals in cosmetics and toiletries.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

I have been reading up about all of these harsh chemicals and I have very sensitive skin so I would like to find out some ways of reducing the crap I use in my daily routine.

I am on a budget and I know that it would be impossible to completely get rid of them, but I would like to limit it.

Thanks.

How about this one, I haven't tried it but they got an RSPCA award for looking after the goats and it seems to be aimed at sensitive skin www.thegamriegoat.co.uk

You should try Pure Nuff Stuff. Really great and reasonably priced too. www.purenuffstuff.co.uk

For a budget I would recommend lavera basis though the regular lavera stuff smells amazing if you can afford a little extra.

lucy rose do lots of non toxic brands and have free delivery so you can easily see up front what everything costs.

naturismo also do free delivery and you can add 5 free samples to your order to see what else you might like to try

I use Bare Minerals make up which is great.

African Black Soap is very good. Very cheap and completely natural. Have to keep it in a soap dish though as it goes a bit soft.

upyourdiva · 26/02/2011 08:33

Hi again, sorry I disappeared but my friends showed up and I thought it would be a wee bit anti social to sit MNing :o

Thanks for all recommendations will have a look through them.

Kittens, I had looked into ABS before and thought it sounded good but I was looking at the liquid do you know if that is any good? Also is it just a body wash orr can you multi use it for hand washing etc?

Weleda is affordable and very similar to Dr Hauschka, they are made in the same factory, apparently...I use it all the time. The Rose moisteuriser is great, so is their Almond one. Dr Hauschka toned day cream cost £24 but it last for ages.

Vi8 · 26/02/2011 10:04

I forgot to say Dr Hauschka Toned Day Cream is a tinted moisturiser and has a SPF8. Weleda are about £8 to £10.X

AnnVeronica · 26/02/2011 10:11

yy Weleda and Lavera. Also try Green People.

upyourdiva · 26/02/2011 11:01

Thanks again I am wading through all of the wesites, I thought this would be easy due to lack of products :o.

Vanilla I have ordered a bar of goats milk & honey soap from that website it looks fab! Bonus being that I am not actually that far away from where she is based so I have emailed to ask about market dates etc!

That would also help my eco plight LOL

If you want to try weleda face stuff all my local tk maxx branches are stocking it at the minute for around £5

AnnVeronica · 26/02/2011 19:26

HighlandTea, where's your nearest TK Maxx? I love Weleda!

HighlandTea · 26/02/2011 22:17

They are all in and around Glasgow. They have the iris, almond and wild rose ranges and have done for a few months now

HighlandTea · 26/02/2011 22:18

Oh and you need some of these if you buy the weleda glass bottles of lotions or oils

Alishanty · 26/02/2011 22:57

I have just discovered Dr. Organics skincare, available in Holland and Barratt. Chemical free and reasonably priced. I like the vitamin E skin lotion and olive oil intensive moisturiser. I also have sensitive skin and am on a budget.
