What do you think of my new spring wardrobe? What other staples can I add?

I have (finally) nearly lost all the weight from DS2 and am sick of wearing tracksuit bottoms and maternity clothes. I've been feeling frumpish so yesterday I treated myself to a few new bits for spring. I normally always wear black and grey so tried to venture towards some colour.

I bought:

this

this

this

this

this

these

and

these

I've got about £200 left to splash this month. I need other bits just for daytime wear and running round with the kids.

All suggetions gratefully received!

Just to say I love the bow backed vest! I think you need a dress - how about this? they do it in a check and polka dot version too.

cruelladepoppins · 25/02/2011 20:33

I tell you what, catinboots, maybe it's just me, but I found the idea of clicking seven links a bit of an effort. Anyhow - I did it and can announce to the world that you bought:

a blue check shirt
a long-sleeve plain blue Tshirt
a breton sweater
a long ecru cardi
a nice vest (pink)
kickflare denim jeans
and brown high heeled clog mules.

I think they are all absolutely lovely! With the rest of your dosh, I would go for a pair of flat shoes (how on earth can you run around after dcs in those fabulous clogs?????), a nice floral tunic/ dress and a pair of leggings.

I bought this WhiteStuff red sploshy floral dress recently and have my eye on this Great Plains dancing daisies dress. (See what I did there? Wink)

Go for the tunic/dress first and choose the other things to suit. Still should leave you a bit of cash for the other suggestions you might now receive ...! HTH

Cruella - thanks!

Yes but what flat shoes? - I find it hard to make the transition between Uggs and flip flops. I always think thst pumps make my legs look fat...

I'm of rather the Cornish Pasty persuasion when it comes to shoes so will not get these selections past the Style and Beauty mavens. Here goes anyway [dons asbestos suit in preparation for flaming]:

this is the kind of Mary Jane I go for...

are you sure you don't like pumps? These are incredibly comfy You say pumps make your legs look "fat" - are you sure that isn't more to do with the other things you are wearing? It's hard for legs to look fat in a just above the knee skirt, black leggings and pumps ... I think, anyway.

macavitythemysterycat · 25/02/2011 21:50

I loves those clogs.

tulpe · 25/02/2011 21:54

Your choices are all lovely apart from the jeans. Sorry, think they are vile :(

Would you consider straight leg jeans?

nancydrewfoundaclue · 25/02/2011 22:02

Another vote for changing the jeans.

I like the navy stripe sweater - would look lovely with straight leg jeans and a blazer.

FrameyMcFrame · 25/02/2011 22:05

love the shirt :)

catinboots · 25/02/2011 22:13

I have lots of skinny jeans but wear them with my Uggs or riding boots. I bought the kick-flares to wear with shoes.

I struggle trying to find a trouser/flat shoe combination that doesn't make me look dumpy.

I look best in skinnies awith chunky boots or flares with a heel IYSWIM

have just bought these shoes

BelligerentGhoul · 25/02/2011 22:20

Tilly - the idea of you shopping in said shop is v difficult to reconcile to my image of you! :)

Tillyscoutsmum · 25/02/2011 22:25

In my defence , I use said shop as a cut through to the shopping centre car park. I would never even venture in there normally - except perhaps to buy pants for my Nan at Christmas, but I noticed these and have been looking for slightly wedged mary janes and there they were. I did put them in a different carrier bag straight away though, just in case I saw anyone I knew on the way back to the car Wink

verytellytubby · 25/02/2011 22:44

Just ordered the jumper. Hate the jeans.

catinboots · 25/02/2011 22:50

Tilly - a different bag may not have been enough.

Maybe another one over yor head? Grin

:)

Meggles76 · 26/02/2011 20:37

catin I see that you are a fellow Next shopper. May I suggest their dark rinse Ultimate flare jeans? I have them - they look fab with heels - much nicer than the M&S ones.

EllieorOllie · 27/02/2011 09:45

Really shouldn't have clicked on that link to the Breton jumper... Somehow I seem to have a acquired a jumper and a beach hut print top. Oops...

OP, lots of cheap as chips ballet pumps in New Look at the moment (£7.99 or £8.00). Red, silver, gold, black, cream. I have two pairs and they're uber-comfortable. And if you hate them in the end it's not exactly a big investment of your remaining 200 quid!
