...and if so do you know why this fashion is popular even though
a) the rest of the unaffected population snigger at it and are highly entertained rather than impresses
b) it makes your legs look very short which cannot possible be flattering on anyone

Please enlighten me...

My DS3 (11) has a boy in his class who does ballet and wears really high trousers in a camp Simon Cowell stylee. His name is Jack, and they all call him Jack-Up Jack. Grin

beanlet · 25/02/2011 18:05

Guess it's the same reason otherwise sane women wear frigging leggings

Especially if they're over 18 and larger than a size 8

PortBlacksandGinLane · 25/02/2011 18:09

Fellatio....you must be so proud Hmm

FellatioNelson · 25/02/2011 18:12

Proud of what? Confused

Tortoise · 25/02/2011 18:13

DS2 is 11 and does like to wear his trousers low but he is skinny so they naturally fall down! I hate it!

Had a disgusting site at the chip shop a while back. Lad cooking the chips had jeans down low with slightly see through white boxers on. Bum crack on show through boxers almost put me off my chips! I was so tempted to say 'do you realise we can see your arse?' Grin

sharbie · 25/02/2011 18:15

yes ds does with added bumflash - yuk yuk yuk

upahill · 25/02/2011 18:20

I think what is worse than the jeans half way down arse crack is when lads wear baggy trackies and then rummage down them in public!! I have told a few lads off for that.(these being lads that are about 17I have to add!)

FellatioNelson · 25/02/2011 18:23

Do you mean Jack-Up Jack PBAGL? He's not bullied, if that's what you thought I meant. It's only good natured joshing - they like him, he's perfectly popular. They just smile at his trousers because he wears them in a very 'proper' old fashioned way -like he wears his ballet leggings - all high and tight. I know what you are driving at (I think) but there is no malice in it. Bullying is one thing, finding humour in people's idiocynchracies is another thing altogether.

PortBlacksandGinLane · 25/02/2011 18:28

yes it is what i thought you meant - if you read that post back you may see why.

As the mother of a son who does ballet and youth theatre and likes his clothes 'just so' it struck a chord.

My apologies Smile

FellatioNelson · 25/02/2011 18:30

Yes you are right, sorry. Believe me if I though for one minute they made is life miserable I would not condone it or repeat it for fun. Smile

Fimbo · 25/02/2011 18:30

OMG no at 42 he should and does no matter. It is even worse when they have one of those chain things dangling down the side.

PortBlacksandGinLane · 25/02/2011 18:39

Sorry Fellatio...

As i said earlier i think it is prison 'cool'. Doesn't Nelly wear a plaster on his face because someone he knew got cut up in jail?

Jacaqueen · 25/02/2011 19:45

DS aged 13 does this.

He bought himself a pair of Calvin Klein and Superdry trunks to give the desired look. If I dont do a white wash in time for the weekend he is not happy. I dont think showing your M&S/BHS school pants has the same effect.

mathanxiety · 25/02/2011 20:01

DS (17) doesn't and neither do his friends, except one who is so skinny you can only see him face on, so I think it's just a case of having nothing to keep the pants from falling down.

Dommy · 25/02/2011 20:14

FellatioNelson
(Great name BTW, LOL Grin)
Err yes and I should read my threads as got big typo

Dommy · 25/02/2011 20:20

But to be fair, do you any of you remember mid-ish 80's when you'd buy a new pair of jeans, bleach them, tear them to bits and wear out all holy and reeking of swimming pools?

My mum really had a laugh at my expense .... then I got clip round the ear when she realised that she'd only just bought them for me.

startail · 25/02/2011 21:36

DD is greatly amused by a lad in her class who does this. He wears very bright cartoon pants and she swears they are the same ones several days running YERK!

Gertiegoolash · 25/02/2011 21:53

My DS does, and him and his mates pose like this and take photos of each other on their phones. He's 12. I do have a good old giggle and will happily remind him of it when he's older and (hopefully) wiser!

Monadami · 26/02/2011 02:21

I always want to go up behind these lads and hoist their trousers up, but would probably get shanked for my efforts lol!

nooka · 26/02/2011 03:45

My ds is very thin and his trousers are inclined to do this naturally. His response is to wear last years trousers instead. So he has the skinny jean look with a few inches of ankle and then his rather big feet. I think the falling down baggies might actually be a better look!

plasticface · 26/02/2011 18:44

The students where I work do this, I just tell them I can see their arse, this is suitably embarrassing for them to pull their trousers up, they fall down about 10 seconds later. They'll look back and laugh in 10 years!

Mummynumber2 · 26/02/2011 18:53

DP has threatened that if DSS ever does it he will do the same It seems to have done the job so far. Grin

silverfrog · 26/02/2011 19:01

dss does this.

drives me and dh mad.

he is as far form "street" "gang" or indeed US prison culture as it is possible to get (think more public school boy, choirboy etc Hmm Grin)

and to cap it all, he does wear M&S cotton boxers, bless him - not really what they are supposed ot be flashing anyway Hmm Grin

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 26/02/2011 19:18

Hate, hate hate this style! Do not wanna know what brand of pants they are wearing! Was intensely irritated when I went to buy Ds1 a pair of jeans in Next and they had this 'faux' pant on 'em. For kids! Yuck.

echt · 26/02/2011 20:10

That rolled-up trouser thing is what Freemasons do when they're taking part in some of their ceremonies, e.g. going up a grade.

Is that the kind of gang these kids are thinking of? :o
