Decent cheap leggings

Can anyone recommend any good leggings that don't cost too much? The last ones I bought were from Next and went baggy at the knees really quickly. Thanks in advance. :)

I have a pair each from Wallis, M&S and Next (not yet worn). Wallis were £14 and M&S £9 but not an awful lot of difference in quality though Wallis' feel nicer. M&S do other colours than black.

IME, no such thing I am afraid :(. Either splash out (American Apparel) or go really cheap (Primark, Tesco etc) and change them regularly. I recently bought some Topshop ones and was really quite disappointed, as they were only slightly better than the really cheap ones you can pick up with your groceries.

Primarks Light Control leggings are fantastic. They are made from lycra, not a cotton/lycra blend so they never lose their shape, and they hold you in at the same time. Best of all, they're only £4!

Primark are no good for leggy tall people though. On me they're lower than bumsters. Am currently finding Punkyfish ok but think will invest in American Apparel

FunnyLittleFrog · 24/02/2011 19:36

My two H&M pairs (grey and black) were only £6 each and have held their shape well. As good as the £15 Top Shop ones.

I love the 2 pairs for £8 from select.

youngblowfish · 24/02/2011 20:39

lololizzy, you are absolutely right about the height issue. American Apparel really are worth the money, especially as they have a high cotton content but still hold their shape well. Lycra/synthetic fibres might last longer, but I find natural ones feel better against my skin.

MrsLevinson · 24/02/2011 21:29

Thanks everyone. I'll try some of the cheap ones and if they still go baggy at the knees (maybe it's my knees?) I'll invest in some American Apparel.

hardly anything on high street good for tallies. End up with them falling down and taking my undies with them! or tugging them so much all the time they get holey. Like Long Tall Sally for length but they do NOT last, they go thin very quickly.

MrsLevinson · 24/02/2011 21:34

Oh sod it. I'll just go straight for those then. But I'll maybe better wait till next month :)

I'll second the primark £4 ones (I'm 5'8" and they are fine on me) they are fab, no baggyness at all and no falling down. Only went there for the leggings based on a previous thread, can't say I was tempted by anything else though. Mind you, I did run in, pick up said leggings and run out incase I saw anyone I knew. I hate primark.

virgo1979 · 24/02/2011 23:45

I have some Gap leggings and they wash really well and maintain their shape.

Clure · 25/02/2011 00:03

another huge vote for the £4 primark ones. I'm 5'1 and they are a little long but it doesn't matter under boots. None of that see throughness either!

daisie4 · 07/04/2011 18:40

Where can you buy American Apparel leggings on the High Street? Keen to have a pair now... Also does anyone know of some nice tops to go over them?

MoonGirl1981 · 07/04/2011 18:58

I got some from eBay for £1.99.

You know what? They're pretty good!

Nice thick fabric and so far haven't gone baggy anywhere!

Not expecting them to last for ages but reckon they'll do for summer.
