Greasy hair home dye

I coloured my hair last night with a L'oreal dye, think it was Preference but it seems to have left my hair feeling as though it's covered in wax. Not sure if this is due to the dye or the conditioner it comes with. I've had a bit of a google and people have had similar ishoos with clairol dye and have washed their hair with washing up liquid to get rid of it. I'm worried that this will totally strip the colour (which I rather like) and leave my hair in rubbish condition as I haven't got an intensive conditioner to use.
Any other suggestions?

It's probably the conditioner. They're pretty heavy. See how it feels after you next wash it.

It always seems to suggest using the whole container/sachet of conditioner which is bound to leave your hair feeling greasy. I only use a small amount of the conditioner and still it feels a bit greasy.

I would wash your hair with a normal shampoo. Maybe a couple of washes and then put a tiny blob on the conditioner on the mid lengths before rinsing out.

DON'T wash your hair in washing up liquid!

My hair always gets greasy more quickly just after I have dyed it but is fine after the first wash. Just use the supplied conditioner conservatively each time you wash your hair next time (I suspect you've used the whole sachet now). In the meantime, just use your regular shampoo and conditioner. If it's still really greasy put a bit of lemon juice in your shampoo.

No I only used a small amount of the conditioner as it's supposed to last for 6 weeks. Never had a problem when I used Nice and Easy!

Not lemon juice if you are happy with the colour! Try some vinegar in the 1st rinse and rinse again really well! Wont strip the hair and will make it shine

White wine or malt? Grin
