Thanks for setting an age limit... I, too, have at least three pairs and am weeeeeeeeeell over 45 Grin

BelleDameSansMerci · 23/02/2011 20:58

Shit, well over 35!! I am, in fact, 45 for a little while longer.

needmyrootsdone · 23/02/2011 21:03

Soory for age limit! I teach secondary - so I always feel completely weird at the thought of wearing what my little darling Yr 7s wear!!

LOL - well, that makes sense. Having said that, my DD (3) has a pair of Lelli Kelly boots I'd quite like in black and a much bigger size Smile

CointreauVersial · 23/02/2011 21:36

Oooh BDSM, are they sparkly?

echt · 24/02/2011 06:22

I'm 55+ and wear them.

In the house, with fluffy socks. And a big fluffy dressing gown to ward off the (less well-publicised) Australian winter.

I'll collect the paper or post in them, but they're otherwise verboten. This is not age-related, but crimes against fashion-related.

Maddikins · 24/02/2011 08:56

Im 31 and have wore them for the last few years, I have 3 pairs and love them.

I just got the Kenly Uggs and they're a bit more sturdy and my faves at the min. I think they look ok if worn with a pair of skinnies or thick tights and a sweater dress or denim skirt.

I wear mine in the rain and snow and they're fine, have never got wet feet and lovely and warm.

SingleHappyMummy · 24/02/2011 10:58

The beautiful thing about being over 40 is that you don't give a rats arse generally what the younger generations think. You've been there and done it and quite frankly in 43 years I've never ever found footwear as comfy and cosy for the winter as my NZ Sheepskin Uggs. They're casual and worn with skinnies or leggings are just great [blows childish raspberry to fashion police]

Cointreau - a little bit. They're pink patent leather with diamante hearts. Quite vile but in black...

UnquietDad · 24/02/2011 14:50

If you will permit a man's opinion:

THEY ARE HORRIBLE. On anyone. Of any age. Ugly, stumpy, unflattering things which look like elephants' feet.

I get all Crocodile Dundee about Uggs. "That's not a boot... THIS is a boot!"

Meglet · 24/02/2011 14:54

I love my sheepskin boots. When it's cold I don't care what I look like. Leather boots aren't warm enough for me, even with thick socks.

I wear them from September to June Blush.

SingleHappyMummy · 24/02/2011 15:27

UnquietDad I challenge you to spend a day running around with your children wearing a pair of those alternative boots yourself. You will be begging for a pair of uggs afterwards. That's why we loves em!

Wearing them for practicality purposes in the daytime doesn't mean for one moment that I don't love my heels, I do, but at a recent wedding reception I couldn't wait to get my damn Choo's off and my Uggs on for the drive home, twas bliss.

ChippyMinton · 24/02/2011 15:37

Mine have proper heels. I them - Bellevue II's

mathanxiety · 24/02/2011 17:19

UQD, have you ever looked at the usually shoddy construction and poor material of women's shoes, taken note of the heels and the pointy toes, etc., then looked at the shape of women's feet and compared all of the above to men's (usually) well-made shoes, with comfortable heels and toes, often with leather lining and cushioned heels, and also taken note of the fact that, general size apart, the feet of men and women have basically the same shape?

Sometimes a man's opinion isn't what a woman is thinking about when she buys comfortable, well-made boots that keep her feet lovely and warm. Smile

UnquietDad · 24/02/2011 17:30

But lots of women do wear proper boots... if Uggs were so great, the good old FMB would not have a client base!

mathanxiety · 24/02/2011 17:38

What's a proper boot?

Hulababy · 24/02/2011 17:45

I am 38y. I wear Ugg boots. Have two pairs. They are comfortable and they are warm. i like them. they look as fine on me as they do on anyone else imo. I haven't had to go up a size either I am a size 3 in other shoes and boots, and a size 3 in Uggs too.

I can walk properly in mine - no slobbing over or heels falling down, no clumping.
I drive in mine pretty much daily.
I wear mine in all weathers autumn through to spring.
As I have very sensitive feet mine are very comfortable and thankfully, unlike most other footwear, don't give me blisters or tear my feet to shreds.

Truffkin · 24/02/2011 18:13

I'm a recent convert to the Ugg since DH bought me some for my birthday this year. I do love them and get why so many people have been raving on about them for so long as they are comfortable and warm beyond belief. I do still like my heels (cons, ballet flats, FMBs) too though UnquietDad Grin

To answer the original question, I don't think age has anything to do with how good they look, although they do have to be matched with a relevant outfit to work!
