Mint Velvet - what's the quality like?

Hi - wondered if anyone on here has purchased clothes from Mint Velvet and if they think the price is reflective of the quality? Have seen some nice items but can't work out if it is H&M quality presented in a nicer way!

Cheers.

Hmm, I think the quality is hit and miss

I bought a suede bag from there for £95 which broke after a few months and if you look at their knitwear it has labels on saying 'this item will pill and is a natural feature of the garment' in other words dont bring it back when it starts to look ropey

I think dresses etc okay though

I agree it can be a bit hit and miss. I've bought some dressy silk tops and some jeans and they have been good.

Some of the basics and knitwear are, I think, a bit overpriced for what they are.

Both John Lewis and House of Fraser stock Mint Velvet stuff so if you have one of those near you, you could have a look and see what you think.

Their returns service is quite good as they pay for return postage.

But also be aware of taking stuff back to concessions that you have bought online- I had a real ding dong about it

I am literally the biggest Mint Velvet fan there is! They are a bit more pricey than H&M (which used to be my default shop), but the quality is not even comparible...MV are miles better. They use nice fabrics too, and there's never any dodgy stitching coming undone. Don't get me wrong, I love H&M, but more for throwaway fashion pieces. MV is for investments!

Yes, the quality is better than H&M - but I agree that it is hit and miss. I think one way of telling is that at sales time, they always tend to have at least one rail of 'slightly damaged' goods - these have obviously been damaged just by people trying them on in store, which doesn't seem to indicate great quality.

I also think that, full price, it is v expensive for what it is.

Yes ghoul quite often the knitwear stock just hanging in the shop has a worn look to it. Put me right off a beautiful short sleeved knitted chunky cardi

I bought a top from there, lovely cut nice basic black jersey material but within a couple of wears there was a small hole.
