Just wondered what everyones opinions were on vital skincare ??

What regime do you follow ? and do you think that we really need to be using ALL those products ??

Toners aren't necessary, in fact some of them are excessively drying.
Eye creams for what? I don't use one.
I used to use a hair shine serum before morrocan oil, but now don't.

Take off make up, cleanse, moisturise.
Bosh

It can get quite confusing imo...

Some swear by toners, others say they are bad or unnecessary.

Some say eye creams are essential as the skin around our eyes is thinner, yet many other people say that our normal moisturisers will do !!

I think normal moisturizer is too heavy for the eye area and I do notice a difference when I use my eye cream.

Some toners are horrible and drying especially if they contain lots of alcohol. Not sure what's in mine but if I don't use it then my moisturizer doesn't sink in as well.

I don't think a serum is necessary but I use one anyway in the hope it will shrink my pores.

Finally I have heard that SPF products should go on clean skin (ie no moisturizer, toner, serum first!)

Toners aren't necessary IMO - but I do like a fresh feeling and final 'wipe-clean' after my cleanser, though, so use plain rose or orange flower water, or a non-alcoholic 'toner'such as Bobbi Brown's.

Do use eye cream as ordinary moistiurisers too heavy - and do use a serum under my day and night creams,on (not very scientific ) grounds that, at my age, skin needs all the help it can get! Certainly am often complimented on my skin, but who knows if that's really because I use these products??

moisturisers

CointreauVersial · 19/02/2011 01:09

I use water to cleanse (anything else too drying), then I use a serum, an eye cream and a moisturiser.

I started using the eye cream because I was getting very dry skin around my eyes, and like the fact that eye cream is very silky and soaks in really well (moisturiser a bit heavy).

Serum seems to just boost my skin a little!

I'm 44, by the way. In my thirties I only used moisturiser.

BelligerentGhoul · 19/02/2011 12:10

I use serum or Beauty Flash Balm because I think it makes it easier to put foundation on.

I do own an eyecream and like it but often can't be faffed to put it on - I should, as I do think it helps.

I don't use toner - I just like a splash of cold water.

Sali Hughes, the Guardian's beauty writer says that toners are a waste of money, use a serum in place of toner and use an eye cream as normal moisturiser is too heavy for the fine skin and can block pores. She recommends cleanse, serum to couner any damage/ageing, then moisturiser to prevent any further damage depending on your skin's problems.

Always used to use a separate, specialist eye cream. Like for the past 30yrs or so (now 48). But, recently bought Olay Regnerist 3 Point Super Serum (NOT THE CREAM).

It says that you can use it all over the face and neck, so I did.

I will NOT be going back to a separate eye cream - my eyes look less tired, my eye makeup stays on better, and I love this product!!

It's not a brand I'd choose....usually go with Clarins or Clinqique but recently, have decided to cut back and the Olay was on offer.

It's GOOD STUFF !!!
