What do 12yo girls wear to discos?

DD all excited about first disco at secondary school after halfterm (hosted by the boys school!Grin)

I'm not sure she's got anything quite appropriate to wear though. She's short for her age (140 cm) and tubby round the middle - makes it hard to find clothes that really suit her.

And I'm a 50 year old who really isn't into fashion (short fitting per una bootlegs type Grin) so I'd really appreciate some advice from someone less clueless.

At my dd's school they went quite casual - leggings and a top, or a denim mini.
However, at my friend's dd's school they go very dressed up in heels and dresses.

If she doesn't get any clues from friends with older sibs I'll steer her towards the leggings end of the spectrum(if she can stop her bum from hanging out of them!)

Tunic top and leggings are fashionable and age-appropriate.

Dresses

My dd is aged 11, is still at primary and her friends wear

Skinnies and longish tops

Short dresses or skirts with leggings

T shirts with logos or pictures on them seem very popular

Usually with boots, sandals or trainers. Only one girl in her class wears heels and teenage outfits IYSWIm. None of them wear brands, it's all H and M , top shop and new look

11yr old I look after and her friends all go fairly casual, normally leggings with shorts over the top, pumps and either a nice top or a vest type top with a cardi. They do tend to wear minimal cheap jewelery and maybe lip gloss too

Thanks all. OK, I think I can steer her towards the leggings and long T. Grin

My 11-year-old loves the leggings/long t look. Next have got some good versions.
