Best cheap cami style vests for BF hoiking up and down

I want to get some vests for wearing under tops so I can BF without wearing dull/ icky BF tops.

I had a look at new look ones year but they seemed an odd shape and even if I wasn't pg my normal size 10 looked so tiny that I'd have to go up to a 14 which didn't seem right.

Any suggestions of best cheap ones?
Or what sizes are like. (30weeks and huge so no chance of trying on for size!)

:)

i bought cheapo ones at h+ m, they are a bit longer so cover the belly, and could be pulled down iyswim - shirt up, vest down, open bra, feed baby, belly remains unexposed

HettyAmaretti · 18/02/2011 08:08

H&M ones are fine. Plenty of colours too.

soppypreggyloon · 18/02/2011 08:09

They looked really long tho. I'm 5foot2 so thought they'd be too long.
Are you tall?
Don't think my mummy tummy will need any extra wrinkly bits from extra long vests! Confused

Their sizes tend to come up a quite big. Often a full size bigger than labeled.

HettyAmaretti · 18/02/2011 08:11

I'm 5'3" and if anything I find them a wee bit short. They can sometimes pop out of low trousers when you tuck thme in.

soppypreggyloon · 18/02/2011 08:12

So do you think I'd be fine with a 10 hetty?

I tried their small maternity vests and at 17 weeks they were way too small!!!

I'm normally a 10 but bought size 12 long vests from topshop & H&M, and I just pull the neck down rather than up iyswim

My best buys were nice nursing bra's, the one s that when you un clip it leaves a peephole rather than just exposing your whole boob. Hot milk does lovely ones but I bought Elle Macpherson La mere ones from Figleaves.com

HettyAmaretti · 18/02/2011 08:13

lol. x posts aplenty.

I've never tried there maternity range. Mine are a few years old, maybe they've changed the design a bit.

HettyAmaretti · 18/02/2011 08:14

yy, I pulled them down from the neckline, not up from the bottom.

chibi · 18/02/2011 08:14

they sell lots of different styles, so you can get the length you need

fwiw i am normally a 12 (5'7, 10st) post birth, i was 2 stone heavier, but fit a 14 vest - it was snug, but felt like it was holding my belly in supportively Grin

really, fret not and good luck with the birth

chibi · 18/02/2011 08:15

yy to hotmilk - you can get used ones on ebay for cheap (they are £££££ new)

CasaBevron · 18/02/2011 08:18

Oh, was going to suggest the New Look ones, with the disclaimer that they are indeed absolutely tiny. (Weird, because I find most of the rest of the stock is fairly true to size). However, they are only £3 each and come in about a million colours so as long as you are not too proud to go up a couple of sizes they might be worth a try!

I also have Dorothy P ones and find that they are a decent length - longer than the New Look, but I prefer a thinner strap if I'm wearing it under andother top, so its a bit of a trade-off Confused

Also, not been in a Zara for a while, but they always used to have a huge selection of cheapish shoestring-strap vests in loads of different colours that wash and wear really well. Can't see them on the website, but may be worth a look in-store if you're passing by?

Whoops, loads of cross-posting - takes me ages to type anything! Blush

beijingaling · 18/02/2011 08:40

Mother care do some. Quite long (I'm 5'5). Size 8 was perfect on me even post baby. They looked huge but fit my curves well. Am usually a size 8-10.

wolfhound · 18/02/2011 08:51

I got some good ones from George at Asda maternity range

moragbellingham · 18/02/2011 13:13

h&m are nice and stretchy and a good length on me (5 foot 2) as I hated them riding up over a not flat tummy.

NinkyNonker · 18/02/2011 15:22

H&m or primark.

mamatomany · 18/02/2011 19:43

Mamas and papas vests are great, about £9 each but will do for afterwards too as they don't lose their shape.
