Dress my husband!

Dh is in desperate need of some new clothes. He hardly ever buys clothes, and when he does he ends up buying the easiest, cheapest items he can lay his hands on; as a result he is experiencing somthing of a style crisis.

He has entrusted me with actually purchasing him a few bits and pieces this month to take him outside his comfort zone (mwahahahaah). So...I need help! I have no idea where to look etc.

He is 32, tall, well built (very broad shouldered) and bald/shaved headed. Any help greatly appreciated!

Oh I'll be watching this with interest. My DP is 42 and often dresses like a pensioner in Florida. Even in the winter.

He may be beyond help.

Grin at pensioner in Florida!

My dh looks like he's off to play golf at his best and about to mug someone at his worst.

My DH has no great interest in fashion/style and def doesnt want to spend a fortune on clothes. We stick to GAP for him for everything (except suits of course) as its pretty hard to go wrong.

Their jeans and khakis are always spot on and not too expensive, he buys a few of their plain tshirts every year to go under things, a couple of checked shirts for smart casual, and some of their polo t shirts for in the summer. Their chino type shorts are great for summer too. We even buy his boxers/socks etc their too.

I know he wont be setting the world alight with these choices but he always looks well put together and they dont sell ANYTHING which could possibly look awful. This avoids him ever coming downstairs and being sent straight back up to change {wink}

A couple of times a year they do a 30% off offer (google it!) which makes a huge difference.

Yes GAP is great, I dress/dressed my dad/ex from there, dad happens to be a very cool well dressed 42 year old dad, also bold, tall and well built.

When in doubt keep it simple. Nice jumper over coloured T-shirt and jeans (not to baggy), now shoes thats the hard bit.

Gap or Gant are my favourite shops for men. Watch for the sales.

Stay away from slogan tshirts, baggy mishapen tshirts.

Buy clothes that FIT. If the jeans are too long, get them taken up. Shirts should be fitted but not too snug.

You cannot go wrong with a plain white shirt, and a plain black one. Like this but you can go for this style too

Lots of good advice on here. Agree with the t-shirt and jumper combo with jeans, an absolute fail-safe. Shirt with a v-neck jumper and jeans looks great for Sunday lunch.

Avoid short-sleeved shirts. I saw on TV once (Trinny & Susannah perhaps) that they draw attention to a male beer gut.

What about going to Bicester Village or an outlet place? Lots of shops in one place and, let's face it, male clothes don't vary that much.

Gap, Gant, Crew Clothing. Nice shirts under knitwear that looks casual, khaki trousers and shorts.

Def avoid short sleeve shirts...I just don't like them! A good quality polo shirt is better, but don't put the collar up!

A plain black shirt with long sleeves to be worn tucked into jeans is a good choice. Can also work well with chino type trousers for "smart casual". H and M do them. Also agree about the v necked jumper/ t shirt combo. A checked shirt also looks good under them too.
