Boys school trousers.... best place to buy?

Morning ladies, not sure this is the right forum to post, but I need to buy more trousers for DS

Would anyone be able to suggest where I could buy good - but reasonably priced trousers? He is getting through them way too fast!

Also, someone suggested that black trousers, tend to last longer than grey... any thoughts?

many thanks
Smile

Tesco & Asda are both fine for trousers. I've never had a pair wear out.

Wolfgirl · 17/02/2011 09:51

katy1katy... yes I noticed the grey trousers bobble. Not sure I noticed from which shop; I will double check;

thanks.

earwicga... great thanks; Tesco have 3 for 2 on at the moment.

Just need a Tesco free delivery code LOL

Are we talking small boy or boy in men's clothes?

If small, ASDA are great. They go right up to small men's sizes.

I think my friend gets her lad's trousers from Burtons when they are on offer.

M&S grey are sh!te, not the cheapy ones either. Infuriating. I now get my boys (I have 3 ds) the dark grey ones from Next which start at £7.50 I think. They're soooo thick I defy anyone to wear them out. Plus theres a free delivery code on mumsnet somewhere (I think I used L1007 or something similiar). I will stick to Next in future but Sainsburys Tu range have always been good in the past (in a dark grey). I just don't live near a Tu concession anymore.

Oopsadaisy - DS is 7, however, extremely tall, and I need to buy 9-10 years min.

I try to buy from Debenhams when they have a sale, but normally sell out by the time I get to the site Sad

My DS is older than yours but I've been buying the Zeco brand from my local school shop for the last couple of years.

They are a good heavyweight fabric and have been the best washing and wearing trousers, believe me I've tried a fair few.

MoonGirl1981 · 17/02/2011 15:24

Tescos pack of two pairs for £7.

School/Kids stuff's on 3 for 2 at the moment.

xx

ManicMother7777 · 18/02/2011 14:50

I agree with Barbie, Next are the best, I've tried most brands.

schroeder · 18/02/2011 14:55

Both my children wear M&S grey trousers for school and they always look good and last an entire year.(I buy them on 3 for 2 in the early summer)
They're not the basic ones though, am really surprised others have not been pleased with themConfused

Wolfgirl · 18/02/2011 17:03

I totally missed the 3 for 2 offers last summer term! I will take a nosey at all suggestions over half term; drag the kids round with me for a day.... that'll please 'em! Grin

I agree, M&S boys trousers are crap. My DS is in Yr3 & when he started school the quality was great & lasted a whole year but not now, they looked awful by Oct. i vote for Next or Tesco as well

Nospringflower · 19/02/2011 10:52

I'm with Schroeder - I like the boys grey trousers and shorts from m&s and think they last well. Think I get the stain defence ones with adjustable waists. Might try others though if they are good.

RMCW · 19/02/2011 10:56

Yes M&S grey ones are pretty rubbish.

I get the NEXT ones...think material and dont fade. Also have adjustable waist which I am not sure asda and tesco do????

enimod · 19/02/2011 11:43

DO NOT GET M&S ONES! my sons grey trousers from there had 2 washes-he wore them twice and they look awful now- faded knees, bobbling- absolute rubbish.
asda and tesco ones were better-but might need a bit more ironing

Wolfgirl · 19/02/2011 21:20

...ironing??? what's that? Grin

bibbitybobbityhat · 19/02/2011 21:24

Do you have to have those awful Teflon coated pleated uniformy ones?

If not, I'd suggest H&M. Got my ds some nice thick cotton grey skinnies. They are very plain and inoffensive but don't look like the bottom half of a cheap suit and are acceptable at his school.

Lizzie69 · 19/02/2011 21:26

BHS everytime.

Millie1 · 19/02/2011 21:42

Don't go to Marks! They've gone to pot! I've bought them for 5 years and they've been great ... Until this year. They have balled and the knees went a lighter grey within weeks. Crap!!

Wolfgirl · 19/02/2011 21:49

Mmmm... consensus does seem to be advising, leave M&S alone. Shame... not many British companies left and they DID use to be very very good.

I have bought asda and tescos and sainsburys. All wear out and get holes round the crotch. Next batch will be from m&s.....

toinfinityandbeyond · 19/02/2011 23:39

I bough my sons school trousers from m&s as usual this year.
They faded at the knees and around the pockets within a few washes Hmm
I went on to the m&s website and there was a problem with these years school trousers. I took them back to my local store for a full refund and they ordered me their new stock.
These have washed great - just like every other year Smile
