Are real converse better than 'converse style'?

Considering a pair of proper converse but wondering if the only difference in price is due to the brand. (I'm a bit skint)
My last fake pair rubbed through at the heel and the sole hasn't lasted well. But for £8 it was ok they only lasted one summer.
BTW am looking at the low ones- not high tops.

What's the difference if anything?

My best 'converse' were Topshop own make £15, lasted about 5 years. I do have proper cons now - they are doing better than my last proper pair but maybe I wore them more often when I was younger! Depends on where you get them I think. .

I also have wide ish (pregnant) feet and dh's real converse look narrow. Are they?

I don't think they are too bad but I have quite narrow feet as well. I have to pull the laces in quite a bit though.

I have some real converse and I don't find them that comfy and I do think they are quite narrow (and my feet are quite narrow too). They're just the pump ones, not the boot ones, though.

I had a pair of real converse that lasted 5 years. Have fake ones now but they're not as nice :(

Soppy I lived in Cons when I was pg! I have very wide feet and they fitted fine.

I have been wearning Converse shoes and boots for over 20 years and have "dabbled" in other brands, but find Converse are consistently the mosy comfy and longest lasting. My oldest current pair is 6 years old and looking good.

Next and Sainsbury's Converse-type and some dogdgy JJB Sports ones lasted a few weeks each.
