Sort of a 'style me please' thread, but not. I am just about to do a mega diet so my stats are irrelevant, but if you were 24 and a mum (SAHM - 3 boys for arguements sake so imagine clothes you would need to chase them play with them in). I'm finding it tough [woah is me] not looking like a hoodie, or an office worker. Ignore me, what would you wear?

You're so young. Envy

If I were 24, I'd start with a really nice pair of jeans. I like Esprit, but you'd have to shop around to find your fit.

Wouldn't spend much money on tops - New Look or H&M - but would buy lots of colours and no black.

I love the jumper/tunic dress and leggings look, so would get a couple of those perhaps from Fat Face.

I'd go crazy with scarves and accesories. They can look a bit 'trying too hard' at my age.

How about this dress layered over t-shirt and leggings now and on its own in the summer?

I would get a decent outdoors waterproof jacket one with a fleece lining for all that waiting around parks and school gates - don't forget people are likely to see your coat everyday rather than what underneath. I have a pinky/red one my son likes it he can spot me amongst the black coat mummys.

Straight legged well fitting jeans.
flat boots possibly some wellies too.
large across the body bag.
stripy tops, vests, long sleeved. love a stripy top.
leggings.
tunic/dress.
h&m have a selection of longer tops not quite tunics but can be worn with leggings or jeans, you can layer a vest underneath.
plimsole/converse trainers.
skinny jeans or jeggings a must on raining days to be tucked in boots.
couple of scarves.
waterfall cardigan or boyfriend cardigan.
check shirt?

I'm 32 but a sahm to 3dc and this is what i wear, i tend to see people when outside so its my coat, jeans, boots and handbags i invest in. I mainly shop at next, fat face, new look and river island, and boden. I tend to wear navy, grey, white, khaki, with a little bit of purple or turquois, I'm trying to stay around from black its too harsh near my face.

I'm 23, I have two children and I only wear dresses! To be honest, I don't care much for practicality, (although flat shoes are a must for me, only wear heels when I'm out on the town). I'm 23 years old and I've got years ahead of me to worry about all that stuff, even with a 4 year old and a 1 year old.

So basically, examples what I would wear...

buying this for summer

bought this already!

love this

What I'm trying to say is that just because you're a mum, you don't have to conform to some sort of uniform!

I'm 24 too. Currently in the process of losing weight so I'm not investing in much right now, but I've started to feel better about myself lately.

I pretty much live in jeans, and trainers, boots or converse style things (even that has really boosted my confidence as until last year I only wore trainers)

As for tops - I'm in limbo really! Enormous boobs which doesn't help!

Im 34 + not yet a mum, wish i was 24 again!
The young mums i see around tend to make lots of effort on a tight budget - colourful fit 'n' flare coats, short dresses or skater skirts over leggings / thick tights + boots.
Also skinny jeans tucked into boots (or ballet pumps) + fitted colourful jumpers / tops.
TBH that's how i dress too. If you're skint: Primark sells good River Island copies. Also New Look is good. Have fun shopping :)

Skinny jeans, ugg boots or a.n other flat boot, leggings under denim skirt, waterfall cardi's, leggings under jumper dresses with flat boots.. these are things I wear, 31 year old mum of one.
I agree there's no mummy uniform but I think it's important to be comfortable rolling around the floor but without resorting to a Juicy tracksuit Biscuit
