Might anyone have an idea where one might find it? Sort of jackety or maybe poncho-y affair. Not really sure, but would like to examine it more closely...

Was lovely!

gregssausageroll · 14/02/2011 21:19

I loved it!

lucykate · 14/02/2011 21:34

i knew someone was going to start a thread about this! i don't know where it came from originally, but i can find out, that's if no-one else knows. in the village where i live, there is a clothing factory shop, sells slightly imperfect stock. they sometimes even have whitestuff clothes in there. last time i was in, about 2 weeks ago, they had those in. what size are you?

MistyValley · 14/02/2011 21:38

Was that the grey one with red and purple spots?

If so I thought it was a scarf - but definitely noticed it, lovely!

lucykate · 14/02/2011 21:50

it's a belted poncho

Turk1 · 14/02/2011 22:12

Wow Lucykate, you have a good memory and handy links too! I'm a bit taken aback at the poncho- ness of it as I had thought that nobody did ponchos now. Might have to rethink that now as it is indeed lovely (unlike hideous blanket in later photos...) I'm a 12 to 14, admittedly more on the 14 end of the scale, but surely ponchos are v forgiving?? Lucykate, if you could find out the make I'd be very grateful. Also am relieved that people agree it's nice- was scared would come back to a hammeringGrin

i need to nip out to the supermarket tomorrow so will call in at the shop, it's only 5 mins from home, and see if they've still got them in for you and report back Grin

Turk1 · 14/02/2011 22:17

You are a total star! WineCheers!

lucykate · 14/02/2011 22:20

will give you a run down of quality, fabric content/washing instructions, shop of origin and see if they've got one in your size Wink

the labels get cut out but there's usually enough left to idenitfy, or one of the staff might know where they came from. i've had some real bargain white stuff tops from there. in fact, we're spoilt for bargain shopping here as there's also a lands end factory shop, some really cheap winter coats in there atm!

MillyMolly2011 · 14/02/2011 22:24

Hi LucyKate

Where is the shop? I'm interested in Lands End as well as the poncho

lucykate · 14/02/2011 22:37

i'm in a village called oakham, rutland/leicestershire way. there's another lands end factory shop though, in maidenhead

the shops are stocked with left over stock and catalogue returns, all reduced prices.

Turk1 · 14/02/2011 22:43

Lucy, you are a dream personal shopper! Hadn't even thought about care instructions etc. Am v jealous of your shopping choice. I'm in Northern Ireland and not that close to any outlets- nearest is a good 30 mins away and the DC ain't keen shoppers. Hope to bring them round to my way of thinking- farmer DH too... Am now imagining myself poncing around the mucky yard in Carla's lovely poncho. DH will phsl! Grin

i'm a textile designer by trade, so first thing i do when shopping is check the fabric content, care instructions and the quality of the stitching. people go on about the bad quality clothes in shops like primark, but in all honesty, the standard of some of the higher end shops is far worse, very shoddy given the prices they charge!

gregssausageroll · 15/02/2011 07:24

Lucy, you are lovely!

Turk1 · 15/02/2011 09:03

Isn't she Greg? BTW do you think there's a risk of looking like a sack of spuds tied in the middle in a belted poncho? Can't pretend I'm tall and glamorous like Alison King...

OP posts:
lucykate · 15/02/2011 11:08

right, i have been, and they've still got them in, had 5 in stock. still not sure where they came from originally, no label other than washing instructions but there is a card tag which says 'gpw moda' but have googled that and come up with nothing. lady in shop said they don't know who made them originally either.

it doesn't look much on the hanger, in fact at first glance it looked like a skirt. it's sort of like a high necked cape, it's straight at the bottom rather than pointed like a poncho, but the high neck folds down to make a cowl. it's 50% wool/50% polyester, cosy looking, with a fluffy finish, it's quite thick and looks a bit like boiled wool (kind of felted rather than knitted). they are all one size only and are £24.99. the only bad point is the belt that comes with it is awful. it's black, elasticated with a silver plastic(!) buckle. belt holes will fit a 3" wide belt, and the one that comes with it can easily be removed binned and replaced. the belt feeds through 4 slits, like this

they've had a couple of phone calls this morning about them, people have obviously recognised it off corrie!

let me know if you want one, will buy and post it to you!

Turk1 · 15/02/2011 11:30

Lucy, thank you so much. At that price I reckon I could cope with the disappointment if it was horrible on. Have made much more expensive mistakes..Ahem... Would be so grateful of you could pick one up. I will learn how to do this high tech PM thing and get in touch that way if you prefer? So excited Grin What a saddo.

OP posts:
gregssausageroll · 15/02/2011 12:13

oooh I think I might want one too. I am off to PM you.

lucykate · 15/02/2011 16:40

have been, and got 2!

put pictures on my profile. they're not good for colour as it's really dull and raining here so light is bad. colour wise they are more like on the daily mail link.

Turk1 · 15/02/2011 18:01

Been on profile to see. It looks great thanks. Is it coming up short do you think? (As in big wobbly backside fully on show, albeit clothed I hasten to add...) Not that it matters, I love it ! I really appreciate your kindness Grin

OP posts:
gregssausageroll · 15/02/2011 18:04

Thank you so much! I am quite excited to get mine now!

If this doesn't fit I will be cross!

lucykate · 15/02/2011 18:05

i'll try one of them on later and see where it comes to. i am 5ft 2" and a size 12, will let you know how it fits then package them both up ready to go!

lucykate · 15/02/2011 22:24

just tried one on. it's very cosy. the kind of thing you can dress up or dress down. it sits lower at the back than at the front so, yes, it does cover the bum Wink

am now going to perform surgery on some large jiffy bags for parceling them up!

Turk1 · 15/02/2011 22:31

Holy Mackerel, It sounds bloody great! Are you not even a tiny bit tempted yourself?? Getting v excited now imagining how my dull grey and black wardrobe is going to be magically transformed through the power of Mumsnet/Corrers Grin

OP posts:
lucykate · 15/02/2011 23:33

it'll look lovely with black or grey. am tempted but i already have a blue cape type thingy Blush
