Please can you help me find a bag that will make me feel organised and wonderful? (I am actually a disorganised slob)

I can't spend too much, probably fifty pounds max :-(

I'm planning to get a netbook, so that needs to fit in it and seperate compartment for that would be good. I don't know whether to carry my books in a separate library bag or my main bag. Also, as much as I love the idea of lots of useful pockets, in reality I bung everything into the main bit.

What do you think would practical but stylish?

Thank you!!!

Welcome to teaching! I have been teaching 20 years and everyday I take a bag for my laptop, and handbag with my bits and pieces in(purse, tissues, phone, keys, lippy), a basket with a spare coat, wellies (playground duty), trainers (for PE), lunch, some spare fruit, Ipod for car on way, then various bags and plastic crates with teaching resources, file and folders. Lots of practical but not very stylish! good luck!

so my car will be my handbag then! thanks

Do you want leather?

Shoulder bag? Satchel?

How about this?

Or this?

this?

this?

this?

this?

Anything that'll hold a couple of ring binder files for PGCE year - I would carry your laptop separately - perhaps in one of the backpacks designed for this?

Once teaching - depends what age-range &/or subject. I'm a secondary English teacher so have loads of marking & my schoolbags have always been capacious. Lots of secondary school teachers wheel shopping trolleys to & from cars, but if your school has many stairs they're not so handy.

I carried a handbag and one of those big Seasalt hessian bags with my files and laptop in...towards the end everything from the handbag just ended up in the big one.

Perhaps not great for getting organised though! (And perhaps not stylish either... )

I like leather or fabric, but not fake leather

Nice. I just got a bag from Jaeger- lovely quality.

Good luck with PGCE- it's a tough year. What subject/age group are you training to teach?

IAmTheCookieMonster · 15/02/2011 08:15

I went online to buy it today and ITS GONE!! I think I might cry.

Don't panic! Ring your nearest store and ask if they have one... That's what I did with mine. There's a store directory on the website

Oooh yes, I used a little Ikea bag a lot too.

Seriously, just use the reusable shoppers as someone has said. I have a nice(ish) handbag but have wrecked many a bag over stuffing it with coursework etc. Have a bag big enough for an A4 planner and purse etc and a 50p sainsbury bag..... Any effort will go totally unnoticed unless it's got a great big 'designer' label pasted on it. Smile
