Wellies as comfy as Hunters for dog walking?

My Hunters have split after three and a half years of almost daily use, being out with my dog.

After searching the net and finding the apparent reason why they don't last now, I'm searching for alternatives.

They have to be comfortable as I walk on different terrain for at least an hour.
They can't cost more than a hundred quid and for that they have to be bloody good and last for years!
I'm not into bright colours or any patterns. Plain black is fine.

Any tried and tested models that meet my needs?

these lasted 2 years before they split, these were really comfortable,
I'm now wearing a pair of decathlon ski boots, which are just as fab..
happy hunting Smile

I have mens' basic green Le Chameau boots, worn with a pair of woollen shooting socks in winter (have calves like Wigan scrum half). They get 90 minutes' mud-happy dog walking per day and look pretty much as they did when I bought them about three years ago. I think they were about the hundred quid mark.

My mother, who walks several miles every day with dogs, says Le Chameau are unbeatable (she was fed up with replacing Hunters as they weren't up to the all-terrain dog-walking challenge) and ultra-comfortable. Smile

aigle parcours - very, very comfortable. they are designed as a walking welly, based on a walking boot. same sort of price range as hunters but i find them much more comfortable.

they also do parcours vario for the chunkier of calf.

Muck Boot Derwents...comfy, good grip on most terrain and keep your feet warm. Also, stretchy leg for those not so svelte of calf like me. Unfortunately, I can't wear them anymore but when I could, they were the best dog walking boots I'd ever had.

Maybe I was unlucky but my Aigle boots split after only 7 or 8 weeks of wear. Very disappointed in them.

Me, DH and DS have all gotthese and they are better than any welly. Warm and cosy too, and easy to quickly pull on.

I've used Ilse Jacobsen's for the past winter nearly daily. I love them - the look, their soft fleecy inside, and they are totally waterproof too . The short ones are more versatile - I feel better walking in them - but I also have a long pair for really rainy days. I'd recommend the short ones for everyday wear during the cold season. I'm using them rain or shine, and they are brilliant on snow and won't crack in freezing weather. They run large. My normal size allows woolen socks inside.

Should you want to clean them, rub them with some cooking oil (I use corn or canola oil). All dirt comes off and they look wonderful.

Sorry I should've said I like to paddle when at the beach so total waterproof boots are needed. I do like the look of some of those snuggly ones though!

I have been looking at the Aigle ones last night and have seen them crop up on here before. I like the Le Chameau ones too but they're so damn expensive, well the ones I like are!

Thankyou for your thoughts. I'm actually gutted I'm going away from Hunter, but refuse to risk throwing good money away. Maybe if they take note and bring the manufacturing back to the UK, or improve the standard like they used to be, I'll get another pair one day.

I'd second that, nicole. The soles of DS's Hunters have gone through, and I am highly disinclined to buy another pair. DS is cross with me, but I am not paying £30 for Chinese rubbish. The Scottish pair I've had for years are still going strong; my newer Chinese ones are already wearing out. Gah.
