Bought Big Hair but hair definitely Not Big......

What am I doing wrong?

Finally cracked and got myself a Big Hair after reading all the great reviews. Took a while to get used to the swivelling, but got there after using smaller sections of hair. Impressed that it was so quick to sort my hair.
Looked slightly swishy-ish afterwards BUT after 10 mins was most definitely flat. Had another go, using the cool shot on top layers and fringe, but still flat and non-swishy. Sad

Help!

Oh no..I have ordered one from Amazon...i hope you can find out what you've done wrong...

DizzyDummy · 14/02/2011 00:01

Waiting eagerly for respnses to this one, I got one for Christmas and I LOVE it but I can only make my hair look smooth and silky and I WANT HEIGHT on the top but cannot make it do it

blackletterday · 14/02/2011 01:11

Blimey I would so settle for smooth and silky, I want one.

mrsshackleton · 14/02/2011 10:21

I have the opposite problem, I can make hair big but not smooth and silky
For height just roll it to the roots and hold for a few seconds

DizzyDummy · 14/02/2011 10:43

I have tried that but it just flops, might be cos my hair is quite thick. Trouble is I don't like the feel of too much styling product on my hair so just use Tresemme blow drying spray, maybe I need something different on the roots?

mamateur · 14/02/2011 10:50

I have thick fine hair and I'm not getting big either. It does help if you pull it up into the roots and hold for a few seconds though.

wildfig · 14/02/2011 11:05

i think it's probably all about the styling products. The thing I always notice when I get a professional blow dry is that (a) they always scorch my hair while pulling it out at the roots, and (b) ladle on the product. The BBH means you can do the scorching and pulling bit yourself, but you might need salon amounts of mousse/styling spray to get the same result.

laughinglil · 14/02/2011 13:08

how can you have thick fine hair? confused?!

FluffyMummy123 · 14/02/2011 13:08

mousse

wildfig · 14/02/2011 13:10

i've got thick fine hair too - fine, but lots of it.

Dropdeadfred · 14/02/2011 13:10

right...mine has just arrived...wha shall i do? play with it on dry hair or go straight for the wash and dry???

FluffyMummy123 · 14/02/2011 13:10

wash and rough dry
add product

Dropdeadfred · 14/02/2011 13:12

which roduct is best? i have nork length straight thick hair with full fringe

wildfig · 14/02/2011 13:12

then add more product
ask yourself if you're going on holiday
offer yourself a cup of tea with pointless tiny biscuit in cellophane
apply BBH
voila, salon swishy hair!
(sort of)

DizzyDummy · 14/02/2011 13:56

wildfig you get biscuits at your hairdressers? I just get hours of inane chat about what nightclubs I have been to/am going to (answer, none, i'm over 40 ffs) have I been to Ibiza (no) do I like dogs that fit into handbags (no,no,no..) do I like Tiny Tempah/ a whole string of rappers I have never heard of......so on and so on until I feel as if my head is going to explode and I have a very strong desire to run out still in my gown and foils. Apologies for the rant Grin Dropdeadfred definitely do on hair that is almost dry or it will take forever Envy at your lovely long hair Envy

mrsshackleton · 14/02/2011 14:25

Please someone explain how to make it shiny Grin

catinboots · 14/02/2011 14:41

morrocan oil for shine

I need to know what product you all use for root oomph

mrsshackleton · 14/02/2011 14:48

Which Moroccan oil? From where? [persistent emoticon]

FluffyMummy123 · 14/02/2011 15:27

i cant do the RIGHT side as well as the left i have noticed

KirstyJC · 14/02/2011 15:30

Oooh I was just thinking about this myself. So I need to use mousse to get bigger lift a the roots? That makes sense I suppose.

Off to google morrocan oil.

KirstyJC · 14/02/2011 15:35

I have found a website with Morrocan oil but there are several different products....which do you need?

The Morrocan oil treatment? Or the styling cream? The Glimmer shine sray or the luminous hair spray? Confused

Dropdeadfred · 14/02/2011 16:32

you need to be ambidextrous to do boh sides equally
