Has anyone had filler in their lip?

My top lip has always been thin but now that I'm mid-forties, I've developed "pucker" lines. Lovely, eh?

I'm curious to ask if anyone has had Restylene (or whatever?

I've not made any decision yet but if I did consider having it done it would be a very subtle boost, just to take my top lip back to how it used to be - absolutely not to make it big and pouffy.

And then there's the worry that I will be The Unlucky One for whom it goes horribly wrong, like Leslie Ash. Didn't she have an allergy? Can they not do a patch test behind your ear or something??

Any experience, anyone?

Not me but a couple of friends of mine have. They have had good results but the "technician" did take a softly, softly approach, saying she would rather do a free top-up than put too much in in one go.

Didn't Leslie Ash get injected with silicone instead of collagen?

I don't need it at the moment since my Clarity Brace is giving me a delightfully full pout :o

Thanks for replying, tulpe.

The doctor (hospital consultant) who does my Botox would do it for me and has also assured me that the effect will be subtle. I don't want to look like a porn star - just to get rid of the beginning of the cats arse pucker lines. Really just to replace what used to be there before it was sapped away by the aging process.

I think I'll speak to his PA and ask about a patch/ allergy test.

I know two women who have had fillers in the lip area and neither had good results. Nothing on a poor Leslie Ash scale, but:

One felt they were just a little too big, despte being assured it woud be subtle by her regular Botox doctor (sorry to sare momer, but is true!).

The other had endless swellings, lumps and infections in hers (were fine at first, but problems developed about 6 months in). Her top lip is sloghtly wonky now and she bitterly regrets ever having them done.

scare monger, not sare momer! Grin

I had restylane around the contours of my mouth to make the borders sharper. It was absolutely fine and lasted for around 9-10 months.

I am supposed to behaving my cheek s plumped next week and was also going to have my lips done- but think I am going to delay and see what the cheeks look like.

I can recommend Dr Tracy Mountford at the Cosmetic Skin clinic- lot of info on her website.

She even does a Restylane lite which is more a moisturiser but she said it would not have that much effect on my lips.

Can't believe you annabella would bring over a year old post just to advertise, this is the 3rd post now, that you have advertised on.

I dont have lip fillers but I have a teensy bit of filler around the pucker lines above my top lip and a little bit in the nose-to-mouth lines. Expensive, but subtle and I promise I dont have a trout pout!

I would steer completely clear of actual lip fillers, though.

I go to Tracey Mountford, too, although I see Laurie.
