Help - stupid man needs guidance for buying a gift

Hi,

A good friend of mine is currently in her last trimester and is leaving on maternity leave soon. A lot of people are giving her gifts for the baby, but I would like to get her something for herself. Im after something around the £50 mark (not a well off person) and am thinking maybe a hamper set of some kind. I have done a quick google search but im getting confused/scared by what is on offer. Id be really grateful if people could offer up some gift ideas/links they think are good.

How about a fluffy robe from The White Company & some of their candles/& or bath stuff to pamper herself?

Or some simple silver jewellery, Notonthehighstreet.com have some lovely stuff for reasonable & very unusual & contemporary.
I bought my sister 2 very slim,silver bangles with tiny ivy leaves on them for £45 & she loves them.

The hamper idea sounds lovely,too,though.

My local spa does a mum-to-be/nursing mums massage which I treated myself to in my third trimester. I don't know if there is anything like this in her area? Failing that, maybe a head massage or some other spa/beauty treatment suitable for pregnant women?

yes. A voucher for a spa/beauty treatment or better still a trip to the hairdressers.

Make sure the date to be used by is reasonably long though.

Agree with the idea of a treatment - perhaps a massage, manicure or pedicure. A treatment voucher was my best present when I had DS (everyone else bought babygrows)

Manicure is a nice idea actually. On my 22nd birthday I was 2 days overdue to have my son. My mum had no idea what to buy me, so she paid for me to have a facial, a manicure and a haircut.

I utterly loathe having beauty treatments done, and it led to an amusing conversation with the terrified manicurist (Her: "when are you due?" Me: "2 days ago" Her: ), but in all the photos when my son eventually deigned to make his entrance, my nails are beautiful! They were shiny and well-kept and healthy-looking (didn't have polish done because I would have had to take it off when I went to hospital).

I don't like treatments either. But I would have loved a hairdressing voucher, or manicure. Just no touching.

How well do you know her OP? Does she have a DH/DP? If so, maybe the hamper would be the safe option!
