as I have LOADS of very thick hair, chin lentgh. I have to ask for extra time at the hairdressers as it takes twice as long to dry as to cut!

Do I stick with my usual wash in the evening, rough dry then GHD in the morning (takes an HOUR!!!) or will the big hair change my life?????

It won't cut the drying time down, ime, but it will look nice.

I have only used mine twice since I bought it before Xmas. To be honest, I am obviously doing something wrong because my hair looks awful when I use it, similar to a haystack. Am sticking with hairdryer nd straighteners I think.

FaffTastic · 11/02/2011 17:31

Maybe fully dry your hair with hairdryer and use the big hair on it after instead of the straightners? I find the big hair works just as well, if not better, when my hair is totally dry instead of damp.

cornsilk · 11/02/2011 17:32

it doesn't spin properly

jamfran · 11/02/2011 17:34

I stopped using mine, as it gave me split ends. It's taken a few weeks to get the condition back again.

Esmee · 11/02/2011 17:41

I haven't been getting on with mine. Saw the rave reviews on here and rushed out to buy one, but it doesn't seem to do anything for my hair, looks no different to when I blow dry it normally. I'm having a full cut and restyle tomorrow so I'm hoping that after that the Babyliss will help style it. Otherwise I'm sticking to me GHDs, had them over 3 years and they're still going strong!!

soccerwidow · 12/02/2011 19:19

hmm... thanks for your replies

so probably wont be hanging up the GHD's just yet then!

Soccerwidow I think we have the same hair, and I've been wondering about getting a Big Hair as well. (Currently use exactly the same regime as you - dry at night, sleep on it to smoosh down, GHD In morning).

As you say, looks like that's not changing soon.

One thing that has made a real difference to me is Amargan Oil (cheaper version of Moroccanoil from Amazon).

soccerwidow · 12/02/2011 22:56

stillfrazzled You poor thing!

I am lucky in that I can almost go a week without having to wash my hair (although usually do 4/5 days) It is a big frizz-ball the first couple of days after I first wash & style it but then settles down and by day 3 looks half decent!

I would happily sit in the hairdressers on a weekly basis and let them do the hard work but I just don't have the spare couple of hours(or pennies)!

Same here on the washing thing. And the double hair appts, is pita! Do you get annoyed when people say you're lucky to have such thick hair?

KristinaM · 13/02/2011 09:03

I don't like it. The size of the brush makes it impossible to get lift at the roots. BTW I have fine soft shoulder length hair cut inlayers

WhatsWrongWithYou · 13/02/2011 09:53

I agree the brush is too big, and the spin action isn't strong enough.

I find it dries my hair nice and smooth, and the style is probably closer to when the hairdresser dries it than I can do, but it flops quickly and I spend the rest of the day with it feeling nice, but looking as if it's plastered to my head.

I think it's probably good for people who don't get on with a hairdryer.

My hair is thick and smooth, with a tiny bit of wave, so just looks scruffy if I don't style it.

Maddikins · 13/02/2011 10:11

I bought one the other day and have tried it and it seems to make my hair very static. I think I need more practice but from my attempts so far I don't like it.

I usually use the Babyliss Beliss air styler and straighteners which take me 5-10 mins depending how dry my hair is to start with and so far I'm prefering the beliss to the big hair. My hair is shoulder length, quite fine but lots of it with a few layers, so maybe not long enough for the big hair to work well.
