Expensive. Looks, feels and smells rank. Yet people rave about it.

Why?

I use kammilosan instead now.Put it on lips and hands before bed and its really good.I love the smell

bristolcities · 10/02/2011 10:00

I love the smell, the texture is perfect for my skin and i sometimes put it over my make up to highlight cheek bones etc and on eyebrows to define them. fab stuff.

ElsieR · 10/02/2011 10:13

Fab moisturiser in the winter when your face is mega dry (use at night). Also great when you are sunburnt. I use on my lips and sometimes on my hands when nothing else will do.
My grandmother and my mum used to use it. Like them I have tubes of the stuff everywhere (coffee table, handbag, bedside table).
Probably my favorite beauty product!

Angeliz · 10/02/2011 10:14

i bought a mini pot once and thought it was off so binned it......then i realised it's supposed to look like that!! Grin

eyebrowqueen · 10/02/2011 10:19

Lots of things are a bit like that Clarins Beauty flash balm, touche eclat. Although, it IS good as a v natural (Looking) lip balm for weddings though ( if you can get past the smell - I have to warn people about the smell before using it on them!)

I was wondering about using the kammilosan I never used and also lansinoh - does the same thing IMO

3timesalady · 10/02/2011 10:25

I love Touche Eclat - amazing (knocks hours of non-sleep off me) and I also really like EA8. I use it on chapped knees (kids), lips (me) ezcema (hubby) and it just generally does a great job. Sure, it's fancy Vaseline but is stylish & I remember my Nanna using it so I like to think I'm channeling a bit of her classic style...

RunforFun · 10/02/2011 10:55

I love it !

We call it the 'horse cream' in our house (think it was first developed for cracked hooves Grin) but the kids accept that although it smells vile it does actually work, really well.

DS had a really chapped chin last year as his chin strap on his helmet was scratched him combined with the minus zero temperature, and yet EA8 cleared it up within a week.

They are all reluctant converts !

TobyLerone · 10/02/2011 11:19

I love it. I have eczema on my hands in the winter and it's great for that. And as a lip balm it can't be beaten.

3timesalady · 10/02/2011 12:31

TobyLeRone your name makes me laugh every morning with Mr Moyles :) Excellent!

MayorNaze · 10/02/2011 12:36

i used it on dd's horrendous open sore-type nappy rash

cleared it up no prob

meh for anything else though...

PrettyCandles · 10/02/2011 13:19

It's good for eczema? Preventing, or treating?

OP posts:
PrettyCandles · 10/02/2011 13:22

As EA8 is greasy, does it need to be cleansed off, or does it absorb completely?

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 10/02/2011 13:26

Thanks, 3times. I name-changed to it because it makes me laugh. I'm easily pleased.

Treating eczema, mainly, on me and my son when he was younger (he seems to have grown out of his now, thankfully). Mine's on my hands and whenever they'd start to look a bit dry/chapped, I'd whack a load on my hands before bed and put cotton gloves on. Woke up with them lovely and soft and hydrated. Probably prevented it, too, thinking about it, because if they get too dry they split and get very painful.

TobyLerone · 10/02/2011 13:28

PrettyCandles it depends where you're using it. If you're using it as facial moisturiser at night, it'll have rubbed into your pillowcase absorbed by morning, but you'd normally cleanse anyway in the morning, which would get rid of any residue.

Rannaldini · 10/02/2011 13:35

love it and the handcream
used on nappy sores
eyebrows
elbows
nails
air conditioned face
sun burn
fly away hair ends when no serum

it's v good

PrettyCandles · 10/02/2011 14:16

I sometimes get very sore skin on my face, recently had bad eczema around my eyes. Which is why I asked about EA8. But when my face is sore cotton is too rough, so I sleep on a silk pillowcase - which I wouldn't want all greased-up!

bootus · 10/02/2011 15:14

I LOVE the stuff, get cold sores and its one of the only things I know that wont irriate the skin around my lips. Plus its good on sore skin/excema/dehydrated patches etc. Only downside is its referred to as 'shit lips' in my house due to the smell, first time my mum smelt it years ago she said 'no wonder you havent got a boyfreind.' GrinEven now DP comments on it but is used to me slathering myself in it and 2 yo DS asks for it on his lips....at least we all smell of shit together Grin

mosschops30 · 10/02/2011 16:01

I have just found this stuff. I bought a gift set on the plane with the hand cream (which is quite nice and light) the 8 hour cream and the lip stuff.

I have to say I am impressed so far. I have terrible dry hands that crack and bleed and are so painful. And so far they havent re-split, when I normally have an outbreak weekly.

Can I just ask though? I thought the 8 hour cream was something to put on your face, so was suprised when I opened it to find it for use on chapped skin, windburn, sunburn etc.
Do most of you use the really thick 8 hr cream for your hands rather than the actual handcream.
Also do they do a specific 8 hour cream for the face?

mosschops30 · 10/02/2011 16:02

oh and I have spent fucking loads over the past couple of years trying to find something that will save my hands L'Occitane, Neals Yard, Burts Bees etc etc.

valiumredhead · 10/02/2011 17:40

It's Vaseline and citronella in a pot! Crap!

valiumredhead · 10/02/2011 17:42

For people that like it - there is a website called CHEAP SMELLS - I got a huge pot for £8 from there. Ordered lots from there and very reliable and soooooooooo reasonable!

Lulie110 · 10/02/2011 19:15

Am I odd? I quite like the smell; no one has ever called me 'Shit Lips' least not to my face anyway...

I use it on chapped bits, and it is the only thing that works when the corners of my lips chap.

PlumSykes · 10/02/2011 19:38

I LOVE the smell Use it on dry bits on the babies, dry bits on me, on hands before bed, anythign really.

TobyLerone · 10/02/2011 22:44

I love the smell too.

bristolcities · 11/02/2011 00:24

I love the smell, it reminds me of something but cant quit put my finger one what. I like that it is almost medicinal, gives the impression its doing good.
