Oh wise ones your advice is needed.

I am beng taken on a 5 day trip to Dubai staying at a really nice hotel with DSis. I need 4 dresses for evening dinner plus clothes for day time and swimwear. I have one bikini which might just do it but other than that will need a decent costume.

Am 5'11 size 14-16 blonde hair, column shaped so need something to try and make me look as though I have a waist. I do have a couple of dresses but concerned about making sure I cover up appropriately whilst there and not offending people. Been looking at maxi dresses but think they may me look like a sack of tatties to be honest!

What would you advise as a capsule wardrobe? Going to be travelling for much of the first day so was going to have smart trousers etc for flight.

Wordsonascreen-did I say carrefore was glamorous?ConfusedNo.After 5 years of living in middle east I found that all my cheap pashmimas lasted well from there compared to £££ ones bought elsewhere in dubai. Not sure point of your post tbh.

Am looking up all your recommendations and mailing my sis. Am having a look for maxi dresses now - I really feel like I look like sack of spuds in them though. Any nice ones around?

Is there a point to anything ?: when I'm on holiday I like to go out and enjoy stuff not queue up for rag tag pashes (maybe the quality has declined since you were last here)

If you don't like Maxi dresses (they look awful on me!) go for some linen trousers or longer skirts and tops. That way you get the length and a waist!

And all I would say about buying stuff abroad is always ask - will it travel? can you see yourself popping down the shops or the pub in it at home? Have travelled to many countries and brought home some horrors which looked perfect out in the glorious sunshine with everyone wearing similar but somehow never worked in grey old Britain :)

Good point seroaaemaeul have made same mistake. Will have a look for some longer skirts. A dress always seems a bit more dressed up excuse the pun and from what people are saying I need to get dressed up for dinner certainly.
