help me spend my Next vouchers

My mum gave me £50 to spend in Next. Now I do not wish to offend, but I do not like Next very much, I find the quality questionable and the pricing a bit daft for what you get and then the styles...well they always seem to just miss the mark.

My DH got the same amount and even he is struggling to find something, he ended up getting a pair of faux suede/leather slippers- £18. I think that is crazy, I got a pair of really comfortable, leather sole slippers from Muji for £16, so again, I think Next is overpriced for what you get.

I shop in Zara, H&M, Whistles, Top Shop, French Connection and ASOS.

Help me buy something that is not a jumper with a shirt sewn in underneath, or a pair or boot cut jeans.

I'm in the same boat as you and have struggled to find anything (haven't liked the clothes in Next for years). I ended up getting clothes for DS instead!

nickytwotimes · 05/02/2011 10:57

Next is shite.

Kids need owt?

lackaDaisy · 05/02/2011 10:58

I agree about the pricing in Next being daft, They have clog-sandals for about £45,vwhich is ridiculous because you could throw in just 20 quid more and get the same from a brand with more kudos to it's name iyswim? And the polyester content is always so high! It makes my skin itch just to think of it.

I haven't bought anything for myself from Next for over 6 years. I do like their clothes for dd though.

southeastastra · 05/02/2011 11:11

i got some nice work trousers in there the other day for £40 maybe you have a particualrly shite one

silver28 · 05/02/2011 11:12

Someone suggested selling vouchers on eBay, said that they go for almost face value (tho they were talking vouchers generally, not next ones).

I agree re next. Tis shite. Unfortunately my sister lives in the stuff and tends to buy me presents from there every Xmas. The one benefit to putting on weight is that she has now stopped getting me clothes (and buys me shite jewellery instead).

Clure · 05/02/2011 11:25

what about getting something from the "home" section?

MrsMeow · 05/02/2011 12:12

I've had the same problem with Next recently! I've had a £20 voucher in my purse since my birthday last November and have only just found something in there that I actually wanted to spend it on.

I got these for my living room, they arrived this morning and are even nicer in the 'flesh'. Obviously no good to you if you don't have the same colour room, but there are some quite nice housey bits this time :)

BeatriceLaBranche · 05/02/2011 14:10

Save it for the mid season sale and spend it on the kids.

RoobyMurray · 05/02/2011 14:15

Cushions?

Bedding?

Plates?

Cutlery?

Soups · 05/02/2011 14:26

I'm pretty sure you can use them online. So
Underwear
Branded clothes
Gym clothes
Home bits
Put it towards watch, electical or furniture?

ongakgak · 05/02/2011 16:48

thanks for all the suggestions, i am loathe to spend them on my DS, he gets plenty as it is! Underwear could be a good idea, maybe a lamp. I just have a hard time with the prices v quality. Oh well.

If you can use them online could you buy proper perfume? Am sure they sell ones like euphoria and jpg etc.

Or branded gym wear?

Failing that wait til summer and get swimwear. I had a few bikinis last year that were nice.

lackaDaisy · 05/02/2011 18:20

Yes, buy the branded stuff from their online shop.

IIRC they stock FLY shoes, starting from about £70. I love Fly shoes.

muddleduck · 05/02/2011 21:38

Some good branded jeans too.
