SAHM style disaster

Yep, that's me.

DD is one month (today) and I haven't left the house in almost that entire time. I've been living in tracky bums and the like and I feel and look revolting. I feel th need for nice clothes and make up again.

I want to find me again and start to dress nicely but I feel a bit stumped. What do you wear as either a SAHM or on days when you're not working and don't have to go out?

My wardrobe is shit at the moment partly because I bought nothing non maternity during pg and prior to that I didn't buy anything for months as I wanted to lose weight so just bought bags and shoes instead

I probably most need new tops. Any ideas? I'm blessed of norkage but with a narrow waist and a bit of post baby tummy. Size 10ish.

Please help, right now I definitely frighten the horses.

I'm impressed, I was still embracing the PJs + baby-sick combo well past one month.

It is still really important to be comfy - you need to be able to drop everything and sleep as soon as your DD does, so clothes that look smart but are actually made of stretchy soft fabric are your best bet. Invest in some decent leggings and well-cut jersey dresses.

When you next get a morning to yourself, go out and get a really good haircut, eyebrows threaded (and eyelashes tinted if your're fair) so you look groomed-ish without having to faff around with too much make-up. I love Olay Everyday Sunshine for making me look less grey and sickly without needing foundation.

Hey, your baby is only one month old, don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Can you go and get your nails done/hair cut/blowdry etc for an instant boost?

Maybe take baby out shopping - you'll feel better once you get out and about and you can take your pick from the spring things which are coming in. Get some nice accessories too.

yeah don't worry too much as you've only just had a baby !

Second getting hair cut or trimmed, makes all teh difference in how you feel. I wear as a sahm a strict uniform of jeans, trendy check shirt, band/normal t-shirt, big art shoes or stretchy wrap dress, I have one unusual necklace which I wear when I want to look cool and boots

everyone is different so it really depends on your own style as mine really is just what I wore when I wasn't working at the weekend and still a bit slovenly casual for some :)

dresses are ace cause all you need is some opague tights and you look smart, also hides lumps and bumps. Also comfy for breastfeeding and general lounging around.

Good for you Smile I didn't manage even so much as a lick of mascara until DD was about 12 weeks Blush

Don't worry about it too much. I lived in jogging pants and sweatshirts until DD was 9 months, when I realized my Mum friends were back in their skinny jeans and it was time to take action Blush

Agree on the grooming. I took DD to the hairdresser within me in early months and the sound of hairdryers meant she slept whilst there.

Your body shape will change anyway as you reduce/stop BF later on, so save your clothes shopping for then!
