False eyelashes???

Dawnybabe · 01/02/2011 22:07

My eyelashes seem to be really thin at the moment. Think I've been a bit overzealous with the make up removal cloths and rubbed a few out.

Can anybody recommend falsies that don't actually look too obvious but just make you look like you've actually got some nice lashes?

Or failing that a bloody good mascara?

Perhaps try the semi permanent lashes that you put on individually? You'll find a large range of falsies in a bigger boots store, if you want to go for a full set make sure you pick the smallest/thinnest ones you can find (even if they look like nothing) they'll still make a big difference without looking too much.

Eyelashes grow back really quickly though so don't worry! Try putting a little smear of vaseline on them at night too.

Yes.

Start out with some Eyelure strip ones from Tesco/Boots/Superdrug etc. They are a good place to start because they are not too expensive, wont damage your lashes, and come in a range that look quite natural. Some add just volume, others add volume and length.

If you are a real spanner, you might need a "tool" that helps you apply them - this bad boy

For tips on applying them -

I'm so into eyelashes at the moment. If you get on with the Eyelure you might want to branch out and try some from Mac. Also, the website on the first link I gave you has some brown lashes - these can look more natural. Use with brown mascara and eyeliner. Shu Emeura do a brown cluster set for about £15 so more pricey but I'm thinking I might try them next.

I'm so into strip lashes at the mo! Dont like the big scary black ones, most the ones I wear look very natural, if anything I think people might think I've had the extensions/inserts done rather than think I'm actually wearing strip lashes.

I used to think I couldn't ever apply them but I can get a set on in about 2 minutes now. I also have the Duo glue which is excellent, though the one that comes with the Eyelure brand is absoutely fine and a great place to start.

Good luck!

By the way, the pros of strip lashes over individual lashes is they take less long to apply (though you have to do them each day) but you take them off at the end of the day, wash your face properly and they are gone. They dont damage your natural lashes either.

With individuals, the glue is very different, and you attach them to your actual lashes and they either fall out with your lashes or get dislodged taking a lash with them.

You have to be sort of careful with them when you wash your face - fine if you fluff around with a cotton bud or whatever but if you like a nice hot cloth cleanser then it can be hindering. If you sleep with an eye mask then you can knock them out of shape.

Same goes for salon extensions though these are better than DIY generally, you still have to be careful and they can still make your natural lashes sparser.

Or you could ignore false lashes and use one of those eyelash serums to see if you can improve your natural lashes - like the previous poster said, they do replenish and grow pretty quick...

Wow, that's seriously impressive guys, thanks!

Am off to peruse the Boots website.

And I am a complete spanner so any helpful gadgets are probably a good idea.

Cheers ladies! Smile

You can get sort of permanent ones done at the beauticians - some that last a few days and some that last a month or so for about £50 odd. I am trying the eyelure girls aloud Nicola onestonight, alot of good reviews :)

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 02/02/2011 13:26

My beautician does the full set for £128 that includes 6 top ups or whatever. Id be scared falsies would end up an inch too high after a few hours!

TattyDevine · 02/02/2011 17:35

Haha no SecretDrinker (sounds better when you leave out the Lemonade) they really dont as long as they are properly on they are properly on. I've only had one mishap which was when I hadn't really properly secured them at the inner corner (I was aware it was slightly loose but couldn't be bothered to reapply it) and I did a violent sneeze and it detached a bit more Grin

Another tip when you are choosing a style, the ones that have longer lashes in the middle and shorter on the outside have an eye opening effect. Ones that have longer lashes at the end are tempting because you think Audrey Hepburn and that but to be honest on a lot of people they can give you slightly sad droopy sort of eyes - depends a bit of course on your actual eye shape. I fell in love with some Cheryl Cole ones in the pack that were all jagged spikes getting longer at the ends, thinking they'd make me look like...well...Cheryl Cole Blush but really I looked like a sad clown.

Love most the stripy clusters from Ardell etc and they are mostly less than a fiver, dont include glue but I've got a tube of Duo brown glue which is fab.

Let us know how you get on!

So into lashes at the mo! In case I hadn't mentioned it, or you hadn't worked it out!!!
