Baby bottom butter? (Waitrose) A couple of nights slathered in this ought to help with the dryness at least...

I went through this in my 20s. Every moisturiser stung, and if I wore foundation it look like paint on a badly sanded surface!

Here's what I would recommend -

a really gentle cleanser; try one of the rinse off oils like Mac's. They are light, very bland, shouldn't irritate your skin, and rinse off easily. Mac's is £15 but does last about 3/4 months.

Pat your skin dry and then spritz with a mineral waterspray such as Evian or Avene (both from Boots, about £5).

Then pat on a few drops of a very light facial oil such as Bio-Oil (Boots, £6 ish). The oil traps the moisture against your skin and it really helps the dryness.

Can't recommend any make-up, but if you follow the above routine it should calm your skin down in a week or so so, then perhaps you could get some samples to try out.
