Clogs: Lotta from Stockholm, Hasbeens?

monkeysmama · 31/01/2011 14:36

I didn't buy any clogs last summer. By the time I'd decided I really liked them it was too late. I want to buy some now and have been looking at Swedish Hasbeens. I've also seen these from Lotta from Stockholm and the price is mich nicer. Has anyone bought any from Lotta? Do you think the quality of the Hasbeens will be much better?

TIA

Ooh I'm interested in these types of clogs too! There is a Lotta from Stockholm website with free postage in the UK.

I've got those very clogs from Lotta from Stockholm - the tan braided - and they're great (although I haven't worn them outside yet).

If you look on their website www.lottafromstockholm.co.uk they also have seconds for £27 - mine are seconds, in fact, and just have a small knot in the heel.

If you're not sure re. sizing, email Lotta your foot length - she was very helpful to me.

They're Torpatoffeln, which from what I can tell is a brand of Swedish clog that has apparently been going throughout, i.e. they predate the revival of Hasbeens. They're handmade in Sweden etc.

traceybath · 31/01/2011 20:27

Ooooh I don't know but must say I adore my hasbeens and wore them to death last summer and they still look lovely so want a new pair this spring in a different colour.

I have these and having just looked the lotta ones look a bit chunkier and not so high.

monkeysmama · 31/01/2011 20:39

Thanks for comments.

I was wondering if it's a bit like Uggs & Emus. I have both and they're the same only Uggs are double the price as theyre the stronger brand. One of my closest mates is Swedish but I promised I wouldn't mention them to her again after last spring's slight obsession.

My thinking is that at the far cheaper price if I like them, which I very much expect to, I could get another colour too. Maybe I should order them and try. It seems from the eBay feedback that they have a good returns policy.

Do you wear them with everything? Dresses, minis Tracey Wink and jeans?

traceybath · 31/01/2011 20:40

I wear them with everything - especially minis Grin

The h&m ones look nice too.

monkeysmama · 31/01/2011 20:45

I know what will happen with the H&M ones though. I have no fashion fairy and I always miss out. I'll end up waiting and not getting any anyway.

I thought I'd be able to wear them with everything too. I have some wedge fur lined boots from Topshop and new Ash Thelmas which I'm wearing all the time at the moment and am loving the height. I've only worn flats since dd was born nearly 3 years ago whereas before then I didn't own any flats other than holiday flip flops. I'm thinking these could be my comfy summer heels.

Torpatoffeln are a very good brand- I had some when I was about 14 so they've been going a while.

I have these <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www2.plumo.com/product_images/s/066/hasbeens_rot__74118__26258_zoom.JPG&imgrefurl=www2.plumo.com/products/Swedish-Hasbeens-Red.html&usg=__s14gfc0tck937qg58sgJltbhbiA=&h=497&w=722&sz=25&hl=en&start=25&zoom=1&tbnid=FD5swXKTheuOhM:&tbnh=137&tbnw=192&ei=KiBHTZLGH5Sh4Qbqq9w4&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dred%2Bhasbeens%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1440%26bih%3D786%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C343&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=823&vpy=443&dur=961&hovh=186&hovw=271&tx=129&ty=98&oei=IiBHTcyxGMO7hAeCnYm6AQ&esq=2&page=2&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:25&biw=1440&bih=786" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">hasbeens and I prefer them because they are slightly higher than traditional clogs. If I was going for a sandal type, I don't think there's much between Lotta and hasbeens, but I think hasbeens have nicer styles.

Will give it a bit more time before I decide...

monkeysmama · 31/01/2011 20:58

Is that style comfortable Tether? I have been looking at some like them too thinking they'd be a good choice for spring.

tethersend · 31/01/2011 21:09

Very comfy- not exactly flexible, but you get used to it. I love clomping around on them.

I have some flatter clogs ad the higher hasbeens are bizarrely more comfortable.

VerityBrulee · 31/01/2011 21:15

MM I bought some super high hasbeens a few weeks ago in Topshops sale, they are sooo comfy I can imagine myself running around the park in them in summer. I have just taken them out of the box to compare to the Lottas and they look exactly the same. I think I might get some of the Lottas in the nude colour. Like you I am just getting back into heels after years of ballerinas, it's a nice feeling Smile

monkeysmama · 31/01/2011 22:09

Thanks again. I'm going to order the Lotta ones and compare them to my sister's Hasbeens.

The Topshop Apple clog boots I bought in autumn were really uncomfortable so I'm pleased to hear the Hasbeens are comfy.

Torpatoffeln are good quality. I have a pair for gardening and no complaints - then again, I paid 10 euros... Hasbeen owners, how do you deal with spring and summer showers? I've understood that it is a problem if the wooden sole gets wet?

smudgellis · 03/02/2011 11:40

I used to buy Hasbeens until I stumbled upon Lotta from Stockholm. They are almost identical, especially the high peeptoes, my favourite!

My last pair of Hasbeens were a great diappointment (high backless clogs), I wore them to lunch with a girlfriend and they were so painful that I had to come home on the tube barefoot and I haven't worn them since!
I tried on the Tops Shop ones last summer but they looked and felt inferior to Hasbeens and Lotta's clogs.

monkeysmama · 03/02/2011 20:24

Mine are on their way so that's very reassuring. Especially in relation to the Topshop ones. My clog boots were so painful. Thank you.

monkeymama could you update us if the Lottas are true to size? I'm getting one as an anniversary present in March and was wondering which style to buy...currently torn between the braided style and the open-toed Highwood

vesela · 04/02/2011 17:43

lackadaisy, if you're not sure, email Lotta (address on her website) with your foot measurement in centimetres and she'll tell you which size you need. I wasn't sure if I needed a 40 or 41 (since their 7 = 40) so I told her what my foot measured and she sent a 41, which turns out to be right.

monkeysmama · 06/02/2011 08:41

On eBay their blurb says to order your usual size and they'll work out what size to send. Tracey's suggestion is good.

Mine arrived on Thursday and I like them a lot. I got the braided tan peeptoe ones and if I wear them a lot I'll order some red ones too.

lackaDaisy · 06/02/2011 15:49

Thanks vesela and monkeysmama. I emailed them and a 37 tan braided Lotta is winging it's way to me as I type Grin

SoulSister70 · 07/02/2011 12:34

I have bought twice from Lotta from Stockholm - I first bought the natural open toe clog and it was so comfortable I went for the red ones too! The natural leather has worn in beautifully - I am now feeling a bit tempted by the boots as they are 20% off at the moment! Not sure if I'm going overboard though!!

orangina · 07/02/2011 12:41

I bought from Lotta last summer and LOVED my clogs. Lived in them. Am waiting for the boots that I want from Lotta to come in. I don't know if they are as comfy as the Hasbeens, but the saving is enough to convince me (wouldn't convince me if they weren't comfy, but they are)....

The Lotta lot were really nice to deal with too. I ordered direct from their website.

planestrainsautomobiles · 07/02/2011 14:08

Just ordered the tan braids from Lotta - my feet are definitely on the narrow side so fingers crossed that they fit. Just need it to stop raining in the meantime!

SoulSister70 · 10/02/2011 18:58

You've convinced me Orangina I'm worried the boots will sell out in the sale - have just ordered the Lee Anns in brown!!

orangina · 11/02/2011 17:00

Oooh, tell us how they are Soulsister! Am still waiting for the jodhpur boots to come back in in black.....

(taps fingers impatiently....)
