New Hair Dye Foam Malarky

Has anyone tried this yet? Think John Frieda makes one.
I need to dye my ever-greying locks about every 4 weeks and have been using Excell but find it fades quite quickly.
The foam looks quite different to use.
Does it have staying power?

I have tried John Frieda. Found it very quick and easy to use and no mess, splashes or drips. It foams up too like the photo. As for staying power, the greys were visible after one wash, but that may have been because I didn't leave it on for long enough. I would buy it again, but it doesn't come in Black only darkest brown.

Last week I also tried Clairol's Nice N'Easy Foam, they have it in black. It was quick to use, but slightly messy unlike John Frieda's and didn't really foam up. Grey coverage has been quite good, hair still looks black ater a week.

I've just used the John Frieda one, wasn't messy but the colour faded after a week! I wasn't using it to cover greys either.Would rather deal with the drips TBH.

rubbsish grey visable straight after! bOO

missmartha · 29/01/2011 23:43

I've used John Frieda, but wont be doing it again.

It faded really quickly.

I use John Frieda this morning - have medium-dark blonde hair and used the mid-golden blonde one. I now have dark brown hair with a slight burgundy tint and am taking heart from the comments about it fading quickly...! Back to Nice 'n' Easy for me.

Oh dear, nothing too positive then?!
Will go back to using Nutresse et al.
Incidently, what is the longest anyone's greys have stayed dyed? I wash my hair every 3 days.

I have just started dying my hair to get rid of grey and have found a Boots one has kept mine grey free for just over two weeks. Not all that many greys but they were becoming v noticeable to me at any rate Grin.

ValLongstreet · 30/01/2011 20:00

I wash about 4 days out of 5 probably

lucykate · 30/01/2011 20:01

i use loreal excellence cream and find that lasts well, and i wash my hair every day. my main problem is not the colour fading, it's roots because my hair grows so fast.

geordieminx · 30/01/2011 20:10

Oh I came on to start a new thread about this.

AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS

It is the messiest pain in the arse hair colour I have ever used. It took ages to get the foam out of the bottle, you have to squeeze the bottle so hard to get it all out that it makes your fingers hurt, it doesn't go on well as it's dry foam, it dripped EVERYWHERE it was like a scene from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You can't rub it in properly.

Even the bloody conditioner was a pain in the are, it's like they have gone out of their way to make it awkward. Normal conditioner that comes with hair colour, nice easy tube, that can be closed and used for later. Oh no, not this one it's a sachet that needs to be opened with scissors... Because I often have scissors in the shower Hmm

It hasn't even made my hair nice and soft.

Pile of wank

Gillybobs · 30/01/2011 20:34

Agree, its rubbish. Pain to get out of the bottle and def doesnt give lasting grey coverage. Highly recommend Nice n Easy for best grey coverage EVER

earlyriser · 30/01/2011 20:52

I really like boots botanics range. good grey coverage, didn;t realise how good til my roots started coming through!

magnoliamom · 30/01/2011 22:55

And I thought it was just me... I don't think the John Frieda lasted a week, even though I did find it easier to apply. I was back to the Garnier Nutrisse soon after, but will try the Nice and Easy one maybe.

I have given up on finding a home hair color miracle. At least the babyliss big hair thing is as amazing as promised.

Emo76 · 31/01/2011 10:34

I have some of that John Freida stuff and haven't used it yet - am having second thoughts now, perhaps I should just bin it and try something else. Has it wrecked the condition of anyones hair or is it just (just!!) the colour which fades too quickly?

missmartha · 31/01/2011 11:05

It didn't wreck my hair Emo76, it just didn't deliver.

The colour was darker than I was expecting from the packet and when it faded, it was just a nasty fade.

The condition was fine but not that glossy softness you get with some hair colours.

Positive waste of money. Spent I suspect on an expensive ad campaign and fancy packaging.
